About Me

dj Jayson Kincaid... Kincaid fell in love with House music as a teenager at his first underground warehouse party in San Francisco in 1992. Inspired by the sounds of dj's such as Garth, Mark Farina, Jeno, Tony Hewitt, John Howard & Doc Martin. In 1996, picked up his first single turntable, bought a cheap Gemini mixer and started mixing a single record against his home stereo system, while teaching himself to beat match. Soon after, got a second turntable and it was on from there. In House Music, he found a love and passion for music and dj'ing and has been doing it ever since. Kincaid's dj'ing style would most likely be considered funky, deep, dirty, acid, tech and always a fat bass line...underground House. But his specialty is getting people on the dance floor! Grooves-in-the-Park, a free daytime outdoor party which Kincaid has been throwing with his good friend for many years and fellow dj Mike Caccam, has been going strong for over 7 years presently. Though the party has its roots in their hometown of Stockton, CA. G-i-t-P made it's first SF Bay Area debut in the Summer of 2006 in Oakland and continues to expand their parties in the Bay. This popular gathering features live dj's, including special guests from around the globe, food, drinks, dancing under the sun and continues to spread the music, vibe & love! Kincaid is always on the lookout for fresh outdoor spots, ensuring that G-i-t-P will only continue to grow and help keep this special gathering & house music culture alive! Always one to keep busy, Kincaid has been throwing "Culture" a free party on 4th Sundays of every month at the Oasis in downtown Oakland and has been a house resident at this venue for over 4 years. In addition to his events in the Bay Area, Kincaid has played as a special guest at many venues out of town, including venues in Hawaii, Las Vegas, Virginia, and at underground warehouse parties, clubs and venues all over California. In his 12+ years spinning records, he's enjoyed playing alongside some of the best dj's & producers in the business including: Garth, Steve Loria, Jeno, Tony Hewitt, Harry Who?, Rick Preston, John Howard, Sunshine Jones, Carlos, Donald Glaude, Charles Feelgood, Buck, Freaky Chakra, RaSoul, Iz & David Harness to name a handful, and presently dj's at many venues in the San Francisco Bay Area, his present home for 5 years. Kincaid plans to remain in the SF Bay Area for many years to come and playing the music he loves. Kincaid recently graduated from Ex'pression College in the Fall of 2006 in the SF Bay Area as he studied engineering, production and the business of audio and received his Bachelors of Applied Science Degree in the Sound Arts program. Kincaid also has much experience in the live sound engineering field, which he also does presently for a living. When Kincaid is not dj'ing, organizing events or looking for records, he's working with friends and producing the music he loves. Always close to his House Music roots, Kincaid has worked at Choice Cuts Records in Santa Barbara, Tweekin' Records on Haight Street in SF, and most recently A&R for Om records in SF. Kincaid's passion for the music keeps him going, and the love for, and from the people is what he enjoys most! -by Tracy Cummings *Feel free to contact Kincaid for booking here or at [email protected] Kincaid's present monthly residency: -CULTURE- @ The Oasis "4th Sundays of every month" 135 12th St. downtown Oakland, CA (between Oak & Madison) 10-2am / No Cover! dj's: Kincaid and special guests from all over the globe!
