- - - More Bio stuff: In 1999 solo guitarist Richard Hecks had his first performance together with a friend from Bocholt in the concert hall of the historical renaissance city hall of the German city of Bocholt. Both musicians were pleased, in part amazed, with the reception enjoyed by their classical guitar music. At the time Richard Hecks couldn't know what the musical future would bring him. The ocean of music that engulfed him and his guitar - built by the famous guitar builder Hermann Hauser - years earlier was to sweep him away from classical guitar music and wash him ashore on a new musical island. Inspired also by Ottmar Liebert's "Nouveau Flamenco", Richard Hecks quickly found his new guitar style. In homage to Ottmar Liebert, Hecks gave his soon founded band the name "Luna Blanca". The first public performance of the ensemble was in May 2001 as part of the Bocholt concert "Just4Fun". The sold-out performance received an enthusiastic response. The press also celebrated enthusiastically the new sound. Successful performances in front of sold out audiences at various locations testify to the increased popularity of the group and showed that they had hit the musical nerve of a large number of people.Radio and television soon took notice of this new sound and reported on the band and its concerts. Of special note were the great concerts La Guitarra and Noche de Guitarra in the years 2004 and 2005. It was at this time that the group first performed with international guitar stars Peter Finger and Bino Dola. The current CD, "Guitar Island", is the newest project of Richard Hecks and "Luna Blanca". Together with Helmut Graebe, Richard Hecks composed a series of new pieces for the recording. Helmut Graebe is also involved as pianist. The rhythm guitars are played by the European-wide famous flamenco guitarist Bino Dola and percussion award winner Sascha Pöpping plays the drums. - - -Get OUR MUSIC at Amazon, CDBaby, from our website lunablancamusic.com or RIGHT AWAY HERE ON:
