________________Cosmic Warrior is an entity that uses scorching, melodic guitar riffs and powerful percussive ideas to work it’s magic. Diversity is this band’s middle name, where every song takes on a different style with confidence and grace, and presents the style with ear-friendly melodies and rhythms. The backbone of Cosmic Warrior is the authoritative drumming and arrangements of Eric Scherrer. The body would be the tasteful guitars of Marcos Guerra. These are two musicians whose musical ideas speak of their seasoned command over their instruments. Here is what one Garageband fan (genuine_fusion) had to say about Cosmic Warrior... "I came across your music by just browsing along trying to find something to do and I saw that your influences were some pretty heavy musicians so I had to listen, because a lot of guys will say they have influences and sound completely different. Anyways, I was just amazed that there were people who could still write and play like that. Do you guys have any of your stuff transcribed, because I would be interested in buying some scores and cds if they’re for sale (or at least the guitar solos, you know how we guitar players are)"_____On the liner notes of their CD, Eric tells us a little on how this project came about.._____We often do gigs together playing different venues. One week we decided to jam and put some ideas on tape. These songs were put together in a matter of hours and recorded in my living room during August of 2003. We had a lot of obstacles, (No quality drum mics, unrehearsed music, pressed for time, etc.) but I was determined to put something down. On this project, I wanted to focus on being tasteful and melodic and not having to say, "Look how fast I can play these double-bass 16th notes, or check out how many time signatures I can put in one song!" I wanted the songs to be pleasing to musicians as well as non-musicians and keep it rhythmically interesting, whilst maintaining space to let Marcos’ guitar work shine. We recorded the drum tracks first and I had no time to do things perfect with practically all first takes with little rehearsal. The initial tracks were recorded on Marcos’ equipment which was a Yamaha AW16. This machine had a metronome from hell, it only had one sound for the click and it had to be turned up way too loud, just to hear on the phones, but I managed to get something down. Afterwards, the guitars were recorded directly, with more time. Marcos recorded the bass tracks first to lock in with the drums and then he tracked the guitars. The final mixes were not the best, especially when converted to MP3, but considering that these songs were performed, and recorded by just two people, one can at least get a taste of our musical synergy. Ultimately, I want to record the drums over again in a regular studio with a little rehearsal time and remix everything, but in the mean time... here it is! Enjoy and thanks for listening. _____ With only positive response from all listeners, including Guitar Legend Eric Johnson. Cosmic Warrior aims to catch the ears of all who are bored with the redundancy of today’s popular mtv/radio music.

____update _____ well, instead of contracting time at a real studio and having to record the drums over again, i decided to do this myself. i spent a whole year in front of my new flat screen and learned sonar 4 all by my lonesome. i remixed the "mirage" and "mission" songs and added some synthesizer parts and some orchestra bells. unique mini cd’s now available, and they sound much better than these mp3’s. cheers, airwreck

____update 2_____ i just uploaded a 5th song which is "mirage rehearsal", complete with over-saturated volume, distortion, and mistakes! this was the second night of putting together ideas. we started recording the actual songs the next day. this was recorded live with one mic on a cassette deck..yes, it’s sounds crappy, that’s the novelty of it! alvarito on bass._______________________________________________________
_________update 3_____ i finished doing a few adjustments on the intro to the last mirage. i brought up the synths a bit more and added some timpani and a tubular bell. i also changed and brightened up the drum solo parts in mission possible. guess you’re just going to have to grab a cd from me to hear the new and improved versions! did i mention that the cd’s sound a lot better than mp3’s? :)__________________________________________________________
______update 4 ____ i just added a short drum solo piece. the other day, i was giving rayenari a "recording" lesson. we set up the mics and i did a quick sound check. that’s it.. unedited, just a bit of reverb. i threw in the familiar "mirage" rhythm, but i liked it because you can hear the interplay of the floor tom parts, which is unfortunately lost in the original mix, due to the poor mics we used at the time. guess i’m going to have to re-record the drums someday! stay tuned for the mirage "in the studio" video and maybe another video for one of the other songs. these projects never end!________________________________________________________
