Testimonials
"One of the most honest and hard-working dudes I have ever been around. Steve is a great addition to your team and we would definitely work with him again anytime." - Brian Nagan, Four Letter Lie
"I've brought a couple projects that I was asked to produce to Steve. He is an extremely competent engineer and is a blast to work with. He can do edits in the blink of an eye, so your time is not wasted. Steve will also offer his input to better a song if you want it, and he knows what he's talking about. He also cares about the projects that he takes on and puts pride into making them sound good instead of just rushing clients in and out to make a quick buck. I'd recommend him to bands just starting out who need to get their music out there to the world and not have it sound like shit, to professional artists who need high quality pre-production for an upcoming album. Steve's your guy." - Tommy Rehbein / Small Towns Burn A Little Slower
“Recording with Steve Henningsgard was definitely an awesome time! He was very on the ball with what we wanted in an engineer. Steve took our sound and displayed it perfectly. The recording process was a blast cause he made it so easy and fun. Steve Henningsgard is the magic button! And we also learned that if you bring pizza he some how becomes a better recording engineer, lol. We will definitely be working with him again in the future! We would recommend anyone looking to record their band to go to [with Steve], you will be glad you did!” - Kyle Watts, Lost In Prague
"Steve is an awesome person to work with. He made us all feel so at ease with the recording process that it pretty much felt like we were just hanging out with a friend. Which in turn he actually became. He really helped us realize what our potential was. You can hear the quality of his recordings on his page. I would recommend him over and over again to bands and artist that are looking for quality recordings.” - Adam, Earn Your Stripes
"Recording with Steve Henningsgard was definitely an epic experience! He worked with us through everything 100%. He made everyone feel comfortable about our music and recording it. The recording process was so much fun because he works with such a positive atmosphere. The three days we recorded with him, we had so much fun and we are definitely interested in doing our next recordings with him. He's a very talented musician and he's amazing at what he loves. Recording." - Once Wings Engulf
“Our experience with Steve was like hanging out with one of the guys. He made us feel at ease right away and brought out the best in our performances by making us comfortable in the studio. But make no mistake – this guy knows what he’s doing. He’ll tell it like it is and he’s extremely talented, passionate, and creative - he helped us to make our music better, letting us make all the decisions but giving his advice whenever we needed it. We spent 6 days with Steve and by the time we left we were sorry it was over. We are very happy with the experience alone and the fact that he has done an amazing job thus far with our music makes it that much better!” - Devin Earlywine, Andover
“Working with Steve was fantastic. We were his first project, and we could not [have] been happier with the result. He is by far the best bang for your buck out there. He demanded the best out of us musically, and we ultimately came out of the experience better musicians! He provided a great environment for us, that made us very comfortable, and very easy for everyone to relax. His passion for music really shows in the way he goes about his work! He's a great Recording Engineer, and a great person!” - Colin Waters, My Armageddon
About Me
I've been performing in and recording bands for around 8 years, and am currently in the band " Everest ". Ever since I got a borrowed four-track to record on, I've had a passion for writing and recording music. I've been working primarily with heavy music from the beginning, although my own musical taste is quite varied. I love the process of recording & mixing different sounds to create something much more than the sum of it's parts. With every project, I strive to get closer and closer to "that sound": the one you get when something is recorded so well, you don't even think about the recording - you can just listen to the music as it's meant to be. I'm not quite there yet, but I'm getting closer with every recording and I love it!
I'm not just in this to throw some sound onto some "tape". I'm an aspiring producer and, as such, like to have some creative input in the direction of the music. That's not to say I'm about to re-arrange a song without telling anybody in the band! But if I have a suggestion for how a part might be changed/improved to better express what you're trying to do, I'll suggest it :)
About the 'Studio'
I no longer work out of any specific studio. I have a fully-mobile 16-input, 32-track Pro Tools rig that I can take to whatever space we decide to record in! Projects can be tracked either at a Pro Tool-capable studio, or any acoustically-decent space with a power outlet. Shoot me a message and we can discuss where you'd like to record!
