Wilkommen in Holzweg

About Me

From the dark forest, somewhere between the Baltic and the Balkans, comes Holzweg, a collection of 33 short stories by Aris Roussinos and by Richard Short, mournfully illustrated by Richard Short. Holzweg Magazine will soon be published regularly, in glossy handholdable format and at laughable cost. Contributions in the house style are eagerly sought. We would like: articles and stories about accordion-playing gipsies...philosophical chetniks...rebetika...consumptive artillery officers...slivovitz-befuddled woodcutters...hasidic rabbis playing backgammon with death...and suchlike.
Aris Roussinos: After leaving the Konigsberg Artillery Academy, Aris Roussinos tried unsuccesfully to publish his first novel, Balkan Gothic. He now makes television programmes for lost souls, and can often be found in Somine on Kingsland High St eating aubergine stew.
Richard Short: Currently spending his days in the Newcastle office of a law firm that advertises on TV, Richard would prefer to do almost anything else.
