About Me

I moved to the L.A. area from Colorado about four years ago and now I'm truly able to enjoy the wide variety of creative people who live here! I have over 20 years of live performance experience in both acting and singing. My absolute very most favorite job was as a can-can dancer and singer in an "old town saloon!" Seriously, it kicked ass. I'm currently learning how to play harmonica--I'm planning on taking over the world with my harmonica one day! Other than this, I am more than busy with graduate school and my work as a quasi-teacher (teaching rocks! Seriously.) I am student teaching now, so I'm extremely busy (mostly overwhelmed) and won't be singing for a while. Hopefully after the first of next year I'll be able to get back into a creative mind and figure out just what style of vocals I'd like to take on. Influences: I love ALL genres of music because they all have something to offer, but I especially enjoy artists who seem to transcend more than one "type" of music (such as Beck, Keller Williams, Ani DiFranco, Queen, and Outkast). Aside from these artists, I could list so many more that I find myself listening to frequently, such as Willie Nelson, Morphine, Billie Holiday, Johnny Cash, Ben Harper, Cake, Third Day, Morphine, Jeff Buckley, Primal Scream, the Ramones, ooo ooo! and James, also old folk music, blues (Rory Block for new blues, baby), southern rock ("play some Skynyrd!"), Van Morrison, old-school rap (Public Enemy, Grandmaster Flash, you know!) and R & B (Motown, yes!), old school country, and of course classical music. AND, I loves me some reggae!
