How ya doin'?. I'm Gabe Forrest, I was born in Coffs Harbour Australia in 1979 and promptly dragged along the Australian coastline with my "gypsy" mother who loved thw beach, people and above all - music. I was exposed to the best of The Eagles to the worst of the Party Boys, artists like Jesus Rodreguiez, Bob Seger and the cars. these artists and thier styles provided the foundation of my love for all types of musicMy mother left my father when i was two and with no siblings or extended family i spent my childhood in the company of friends, who have meant alot to me. Music was always around me as i grew up.I have always been drawn to the guitar and its amazing sounds that could alter your emotions in the change of a chord, progression or tempo - yet it always seemed out of my realm. My respect for guitar was only matched by a soulful and tune-filled voice. I would tap and sing along with great gusto but usually out of time and out of tune, almost a metaphor of my lifeAt 16, my mother fell ill and with no-one else to help out, i left school to care for her. She passed away after a two year battle with breast cancer and suddenly i was on my own. The struggle and grief had stolen the music from my world. The chains were lifted when i realised that my mothers teachings of living carefree without fear and doubt provided the guidence to help me find the music again. This time it was different......I wanted to find my OWN music.So i picked up a guitar - an old classical bought for $25 and started on my own musical journey. I had dabbled in the past with songwriting, mainly silly rap songs about girls and parties.But now i was different and armed with the recent life-changing experiences and the freedom of nothing left to lose the songs and the lyrics seemed to flow.Love, anger, frustration, confusion, happiness, pain and laughter fuelled my inspiration. It took a while but energy, rythym and spirit transformed the kid with a weak voice and old out of tune guitar. I was alive again, i had found my music and it was stronger than ever.I then realised that people live and die but the music lives on.This collection is my take on life, my loves and my world up until now. The lyrics are real-experiences lived and breathed, the music follows these life rythyms and my voice drips with emotions of sadness and elation. These songs are captured in their rawest form and unshrouded in layers of production to deliver a pure message of life in music....straight from my heart, my soul, my mouth.
