Since 1994 Mothercare have devoted themselves in achieving an aggressive, violent and cathartic sound. Since earlier works, the band chooses to record and produce its music independently. After 2 demotapes, Mothercare put out 2 self-produced mini CDs: In A Hole (4 tracks, 1997) and Fusoku no Kigen (5 tracks, 1999). The latter became "Demo of the month" on the British magazine "The Mix". In 2000 Fusoku no Kigen won the "Demowar" competition on the italian mag Psycho!: the band is voted by the audience, among over than 100 acts. In 2003 "Breathing Instructions"' production started and again the work was completely produced by Mirkos Bunkker Prod.. The record is published by Urlo Music and distributed in Italy by Emi. Breathing Instructions is Mothercare's first full-lenght (11 tracks) and includes several special guests, as Mark "Barney" Greenway from grind-core prime movers Napalm Death. As a result of the bands devotion to its music the record have reached 1600 copies sold in the sole Italy. Breathing Instructions marks Mothercare's stylistic ripeness, merging different metal expressions into a distinctive sound, which the band names pain-core metal: music originated from grief and frustration, from a persistent and overwhelming sense of uneasiness. Mothercare's live shows feature deep psychic alteration, frantic search of meanings, strong emotional interaction with the audience. The band have been official support act of 2003 italian tour of Napalm Death. The bands latest release is even more sharp and sick with a deep thrash-death influence, its titled Traumaturgic and guests Mieszko Talarczyk from Nasum (who has died tragically in the 2004 far easts tsunami) and Davide Tiso, Ephel Duaths leader, one of the most interesting European bands because of their unique jazz-metal style.
