The Karloffs

The Karloffs are back! And we gots a new song!

About Me

The Karloffs began in Boone NC in 1996 after the breakup of The Sick-66. Originally called the Cunninghams after watching a few episodes of Happy Days, the original lineup consisted of Kevin on guitar and vocals, Karl on guitar, Bald Steve on bass and Rick on drums. Upon graduation from ASU in 1997, Steve was replaced on Bass by Metal Greg. After one show (with Antiseen), Greg switched over to guitar and Karl took over on bass. The following year, Rick left the band due to his wrestling commitment and was replaced by Scott from Harbinger. This lineup (with Jason from Pink Collar Jobs occasionally filling in on guitar) would play shows all over NC and would also organize two music festivals (Boonefest) in Boone, along with a side project called The Hellvis Presley Overdrive. During this period, the Hells Coming to Breakfast cd would also be recorded at their practice space.
Scott left the band after the second Boonefest in 2000, and was replaced by Geoff form the Nancies (among others). They played roughly two shows with Geoff, while also starting up a brief new project called BOLO. Soon thereafter, Metal Greg moved to Portland, putting the Karloffs on hold for the first time. They would return again in the Summer of 2002 (with Scott back on drums) for the third Boonefest, with Jason playing guitar.
Following Jason's move to Asheville, Dwayne, formerly of Damage Done, was added on guitar. During the next three or four years, The Karloffs continued to play shows throughout NC, while Scott put out two cdr's of Karloffs material (the Retrospective cd and the Live in Greensboro split with Slappin Grama). Scott played his final show with the Karoffs in April of 2005, moving on to Little Rock and leaving the band drummerless (again). A long hiatus would ensue until March of '06, when Jimmy from D-lam joined up on drums, and new shows were finally booked. Jimmy is now playing in Dark Side of the Boone, and still in D-Lam, but no longer with the Karloffs. Our new drummer, Brian Walden, has got quite a few shows under his belt and hits 'em harder every day.
If anyone is interested in any of the Karloffs releases, just get in touch, and I'll see about sending you out a copy.
