Emperor City Motorcade
Arlene's Grocery
Put together as a six piece band that looks too mighty for any small stage, Emperor City Motorcade is cruising through the city venue by venue creating a mood that can only be described by watching them. This band has a sound that is deeply moving and much more emotional than most bands from the area which was highly evident in their performance at Arlene’s Grocery.
On a stage that basically defines the underground scene; the band was ready to have some fun. Playing shows for the pure love of music is what comes out on tracks like “Texas Love†and “Papercut Suicideâ€. In what could the best front man in the local business, Alex Curran’s powerful vocals and fun stage antics supported by a more serious but very talented and light hearted Vincent Capolupo’s strong keyboard skills, Jonathan Pointer and Allen Hulsey’s exchange of mind blowing solos, Tom Guinans ever present bass and John Melissinos hard but not too overbearing drumming that helped lead the set list, this band showed some true talent and very original music.
With more toned down tracks like “Ordinary Day†and “Welcome†which could very well be the bands first radio hit, diversity and a performance that could please many fans of true, down to earth rock music is what was presented. Emperor City Motorcade is working hard in New York City touring and can also be found in their my space area and on I Tunes where their self titled debut album is currently on sale. With a name that seems larger than life and music that lives up to that billing, this is one band that should be harder and harder to overlook as the touring continues.
