DJ Manspino

H ip hop culture has been a strong influence on this DJ’s life for as long as he can remember. Some may be surprised to learn that before devoting himself to the art of dj-ing, circumstances lead Manspino’s career towards break-dancing. This young Montrealer of Italian descent found his true vocation quickly however, when at 19, he first began taking his place behind the turntables. With the contacts he has made in the industry, Manspino has become an important member of Québec’s hip-hip scene and today, he has nothing more to prove.
O ver the years Maspino has accumulated quite a lot of experience performing as the DJ in the popular rap formation known as Sans Pression before the groupe officially broke up. And in 2004, Manspino went head to head with DR ONE, one of the city’s most respected DJs and undefeated champion of the annual MUDJ Battle organised by Kreativ Team. He constinues his participation in the series as host and DJ.
A dded to the list of huge hits which came out of this successful collaboration, it is not uncommon to see Manspino’s face in newspapers, read about his fruitful career in arts sections and hear his music playing on mainstream radio stations as well as on underground radio shows.
I n the last few years, he has produced and distributed a series of mixtapes known as “Well Enough to be Ill” volumes I to IV which inspired the title of his long awaited independent effort. In 2005, Manspino officially released “Well Enough to be Ill: L’Album”, distributed on the independent label of Districk Music. In the video created for his first release called « Hard letting go », Manspino also reveals his hidden talent as a dancer when he accompanies the lovely Shelly of MusiquePlus fame in an intense and beautifully executed tango choreography meant to represent the battle between the sexes. Moreover, “Well Enough to be Ill: L’Album” is a varied album featuring tracks produced in collaboration with a number of talented and entertaining artists from Québec’s urban music scene.
S imply put, Manspino is a charismatic and multitalented artist who was able to stand out from the crowd in Montreal’s hip hop movement. Since he first came onto the hip hop scene, he has made his presence felt throughout the movement and with his new solo career, Manspino intends on making even more noise!
