ANTHONY RODRIGUEZ BORN IN MANHATTAN RAISED IN THE SOUNDVIEW SECTION OF THE BRONX TO PUERTO RICAN PARENTS HAS ALWAYS KNOWN HIS LIGHT AND CONTINUES TO FOLLOW IT! "This is something i've been working towards all my life" says Anthony about his music. " I secretly began writing at the age of twelve while at the same time, openly i began choreographing and exploring movement". Anthony began choreographing and performing for weddings,sweet sixteens,churchs and any community related events,at that time his group was called HOLYLIGHT.With the natural progression of time and inspiration he founded LA SANTA LUZ DANCE CO. in 1997 ,which he continues to be the Artistic Director. Anthony's vision of combining his vocals,choreography and staging have come full circle after experiencing a taste of what any upcoming performer/oportunist would consider a "Follow your heart" mission! He auditioned and got the part for Madonna's Drowned World Tour in 2001. And called his mom yelling after the first rehearsal saying "I got a solo". Excited but more spiritually walking towards this he embraced the journey, got a taste of it and is counting his blessings every day as he walks. "I got to see that i was not that off with my visions as a performer for myself, it just confirmed it for me". Before Rodriguez experienced his first tour as a dancer. He also had danced and worked for Prince, Cyndi Lauper,Tito Puente, Camron, Zhane, Tito Nieves and Jennifer Lopez to name a few. And has done choreography for Marc Anthony,DLG,Cuco Valoy,many Freestyle Artist and national dance divas like Reina and Veronica. Anthony's mission with music is just as strong for dance. When asked recently which do you perfer to do? He replied " You see, I've been dancing all my life and it's so external, also I know the routine 5,6,7,8. Now the gift of song allows God to speak through me in a much more intamite way, I mean this is me, my words, my experiences, my story ". "Being on stage for me now is so much stronger than it's ever been". "The feeing is right, it's where I'm suppose to be" It has not always been easy for Rodriguez to make people understand the transition from one gift to another. But through constant performances and an in your face attitude "I'm living like everyone else just trying to get my vision across!".
