Dean Dixon has become an inherent part of the diversifying sound of dance floors across the world. His mixing life began where all good journeys should – at home, in the intimate clubs of Canada. Perpetuating initiative saw him organising numerous parties and events in Ontario and Alberta in which he took a humble turn at scanning the crowd and dropping records that picked up their feet and pricked up their ears. Deans own quick feet soon found him taking a flying leap across the Pacific Ocean to Australia, a place for the moment he calls home. It is here, under the anti-podean lights that he has expanded his sound, consolidated his skills behind the turntables and begun to create an excitable base of interest and a rolling stock of opportunity. Whilst residing in Melbourne he was invited to play at some of the city’s most distinguished venues including St Jeromes, The Metro, Club 161 & a two year residency at Suede lounge to name a few. He also hosted a weekly 3 hour radio show on Melbourne’s only underground dance music station, Street FM. His set dynamics walk a tight line between spontaneity and his now extensive understanding of set building. He presents a tough task for himself by never pre-programming a set & never lets himself be cornered by one type of music. In any one set he can be heard dropping everything from old school hip hop& electro, 80's & funk to house & techno; basically everything that's gonna set that dancefloor alight! This diversity in his music has also lead to a relatively recent co-production with Swiss producer BP Zulauf (www.helveticarecordingz.com) The resulting product of which is a blend of electro, deep house and minimal sounds. The debut of which caused quite a stir & has been supported by international Dj's, included in various radio playlists worldwide, used in a double mix cd comp, and included in Release Records (Toronto, Canada) top ten tracks of the month section. After having played to audiences up the east coast of Australia as far north as Cairns, the well worn feet of Dean Dixon have now hit the streets of Sydney - and there has been no rest for the wicked. He is already at the heart [well at least one third of the three founding members] of the biggest monthly house party night on syd-city's calendar – "HAHA" @ the Abercrombie Hotel – where he sets up and lays out nine hours of music, coordinating himself and other DJ’s/LIVE acts into providing a totally outstanding night of dance. In Sydney you can catch him at his monthly HAHA parties & various guest spots elsewhere - including occassional Sat's at St Jeromes (Melbourne) with resident Dj max vEgas, periodically on Bondi FM, 2SER & FBI radio in the city (all of which are streamable from their sites on the web).
