The album Hypnotic Fonk is a blend of Fonk and Blaxploytation.Featured artist on the album include George Clinton and P. Funk member Belita Woods and is produced by Stevie Wonder’s former drummer Mark "Miestro" Williams.Hypnotic Fonk is an odyssey of hyperactive cool melodic Sexy funk driven ecstacy.Simply put. Hypnotic is something to ride to, to get high to."PARLIMENT FUNKADELIC INTERVIEW" NAME: Carlos McMurray, "Sir Nose Devoid of Funk"AGE: Twenty fiveBIRTH PLACE: East St.Louis, IllinoisCURRENT RESIDENCE: East St.Louis, Illinois - or wherever the funk stops, you know.WHEN DID YOU JOIN THE BAND: Nineteen Ninty Two, NovemberDID YOU GO TO SCHOOL WITH ANY ONE IN THE BAND OR PLAY WITH ANY OTHER MEMBERS OF THE BAND? No I never seen these guys before in my life.HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH THE BAND? Well, I was asked by a cousin of mine to come to the stage when they came to St.Louis. They used to get a Sir Nose in different cities to dance. I guess the contortion got ’em so much that they kept me after that night.WHAT IS YOUR PRINCIPLE ROLE WITH THE PARLIMENT? Not just a dancer but, comedian, actor, antagonist and an all around bad guy. (He laughs) A nuisance. A positive nuisance. There you ~o.WHO WERE YOUR ROLE MODELS BEFORE YOU WERE INDOCTRINATED INTO THE FUNK? As far as dancing - JB James Brown, Michael Jackson. Those two type of guys. And I guess that’s about it really. I like the movements. You know I tried to mimic them but, make my own conclusions and come up with something different.HAD YOU WORKED WITH OTHER GROUPS BEFORE YOU STARTED WORKING WITH PARLIMENT? Yeah, I had had a couple of gigs with some other guys. I did some stuff with Hammer. And the rest of the groups, I can’t even remember. It was like long ago.WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WORKING WITH P-FUNK V. S. ANY OTHER GROUP YOU’VE WORKED WITH? Oh man. Well, there’s more to do. You’re not dancing with like ten other guys on stage. There’s not just dancing There’s work. I get to go out to the crowd and be the positive nuisance. I get to come out on stage any time I want. So, hey, that’s the best thing about it. Plus George’s music is a live band. I like that. You get more feeling.HAVE YOU EVER DONE ANYTHING IN A SHOW OTHER THAN DOING THE DANCING? Well, sometimes I go way in the back where the cordless mike is at (he laughs). AND DO A LITTLE SINGING? Yeah, sing a little bit. I don’t know, my thing is - my favorite thing is to climb up on the speakers and try to get over the band ’cause I get more inspiration. It’s fulfilling - dancing, oh yeah.ARE YOU WORKING ON ANY OTHER PROJECTS OUTSIDE OF PARLIMENT RIGHT NOW? Yes. I’m working with a few members on an album. A Sir Nose Album.WHO ARE YOU WORKING WITH? Michael Hampton, Amp Fidler, Greg Thomas, and a couple of other guys, yeah, hopefully everybody. I want everybody involved. Then uh, they’re doin’ a sir nose cartoon right now that’s going into the schools to help the children with their work so, hopefully I’ll be going into the schools next year to help them with their learning. And possibly some films next year. Yeah, we’re talking about doing some films next year. I’m talking with Archie Ivy.WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN TEN YEARS? Oh, man. I don’t. I hate to see the future because, when you see the future then, you got ta set goals. I don’t want to set goals... limitations...I don’t want limitations. I just want to keep goin’, you know. ..so you could say a year, ten years from now, I don’t want to see it.. you know, I just want to keep doing what I’m doing and keep goin’. I don’t want to set goals. ..That means I’d be putting a limitation on myself that I want to be here and I want ta stop here ...I don’t want to stop. I want to do everything. Yeah.WHAT HAS BEING WITH PARLIMENT MEANT TO YOU? Hmmm. Well it’s the best experience you can have as far as being with a band. You get the bad the good. You definitely come away learning just about everything there is to know because, you’ve got veterans. You got a couple of new veterans. You put that together and you’ve got all the experience in the world.DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE PLACE THAT YOU’VE BEEN TO OR A FAVORITE CITY? Atlanta. I love Atlanta, ..the vibe it’s just. ..I think one thing, we played the biggest crowd, that was one thing, ..a hundred and thirty thousand plus...and to me breakin’ a record with the rest o’ the guys was like man, you know, that was a good feeling, ’I broke a record with George’, you know, I’m a young guy but, I was there when George did that, you know, so, yeah, I think Atlanta. ..Atlanta, yeah, that’s the spot ...blackness, you know (he laughs), my people.DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE STORY OR AN UNUSUAL STORY ABOTT SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED WHILE YOU WERE WITH THE GROUP? Yeah. I remember when we did a show in Kansas City and Doc and George’s son, Darryl were supposed to toss me off the stage. Right. But, what happened was, the timing was off so, with Darryl. So, Doc said go and Darryl still had my legs. So, Darryl said since half of him is already gone, toss the other half, you know, too. Bami You know black folks they don’t like slam dancing, they move (he laughs).SO YOU HIT THE FLOOR? And everything else, yeah. Also last night, here in New York.YEAH WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT? I fell twice off the stage. I played it off though. Nobody noticed. ..I hope. I kicked the back of my head with my foot...lost my balance, and there was no more stage. And I did the twist and I don’t know how I did it, but, I stayed on stage. I said let me do it again, ..let me get it right - barn...messed up again.WHAT’S THE MOST UNUSUAL THING YOU’VE SEEN SOMEONE DO WHILE YOU WERE ON STAGE AS A REACTION TO YOU? (He laughs) Tongue action. Oh yeah, I get a lot of tongue action.SO YOU LOOK OUT AND YOU SEE WOMEN LICKING THEIR TONGUES AT YOU? Yeah.HOW DO YOU DEFINE FUNK? As being devoid, nothing. Without devoid, ah, funk to me means unity. Everybody coming together no white, no black, no racism, no curfew, no nothing, you know. We’re just here to have a good time and that’s it. It just means unity. Yeah.
