About Me

Eva Adalai-
* Eva is no stranger to the Long Island music scene, but a reinvention of her earlier years as an acoustic solo artist. Having recorded 2 solo albums and 3 independent releases over the past few years while performing with her former band, Eva has made a transformation back onto the course she originally set out on. Combining heartfelt lyrics with memorable melodies that bring you into her world through an emotional spin of sound and color. *
Recorded in 2007 with producer Mike Watts (As Tall as Lions, Hopesfall, Junior Varsity) at Vudu Studios (Freeport, NY), "This Machine” began not only as just another album, but more of a challenge to bring to light what Eva had left on the back burner for so long. Co-written with friend and long time writing partner Brian Lupo "This Machine" revisits some of her earlier "unreleased" songs, but has a constant reminder throughout the album of a somber yet uplifting journey in which she has traveled throughout the making of "This Machine". Now with a solid foundation and newfound confidence, Eva has proven herself not only as an experienced vocalist, but a seasoned songwriter as well. As well as writing and recording her own music, Eva has also recorded guest vocals with bands such as *2 Sweet* (Independent) and The Scenic (Victory Records).

CD Review- Eva Adalai “This Machine”
Who: Eva Adalai is a young vocalist and original songwriter from Long Island.
What: Fitting in perfectly as a singer/songwriter with a hint of alt rock in her style, Adalai’s project isn’t a demo in the least; this is one of the finest overall solo works we’ve been lucky enough to partake of in years. It’s superior in both performance and sound to virtually everything we hear. This album is so not long Island it’s frightening: There’s expert mannered playing and arrangements that actually fit the lyrics instead of pure showing off; it’s what some would refer to as “taste”.
This is one of those rare moments when it’s obvious that this artists release is her career high point. Adalai is no Ingénue; she’s recorded two solo albums and was a vocalist in another area band as well. However with the solid production of Vudu Studio’s Mike Watts buoying her efforts –a producer and engineer with literally dozens of national credits on his resume- Adalai has fashioned an overall album of breathtaking depth and real emotional power. Fans of anyone from Norah Jones to today’s top emo and alt band will find this a worthy companion to those national acts. We can’t state this strongly enough: This stunning piece of work is one of the five best albums ever to be featured in Demolition.

"The music generates a mystique that is reminiscent of that of the music of Tori Amos. Singer Eva's vocal stylings are mysterious yet edgy, drawing the listener into the captivating lyrics of each song"

"Eva's voice is fueled by awareness and empowerment, making her lyrics resonate more as an exercise in self-discovery rather than self-indulgence."

NEWS-
5/14/08-
Wow! It's been a while since I posted news....obviously my album "This Machine" is done. Although, things have been quiet cause I haven't officially released it yet outside of the internet. I have been working with a band for the past few months working at getting ready to start performing again. This time around, with the new album and the countless time, money and effort that was given in to making the album, I wanted to make sure you are gonna get your money's worth when you come to a show. Now with the right band members we are looking at playing this summer and officially releasing "This Machine". As you can see I got my first CD review which made me very proud of all the time that I have put into the album. To me it's not about writing, recording and releasing just another album anymore...it's about making music that means something so much more to me and something that I hope makes you as proud as it makes me, no matter how long it takes. I will try to update this news section more as things progress. Lot's of love!!

Yes!! So as you can hear I finally got a copy of the final mixes of "This Machine" The CD has yet to be mastered and I am still deciding on the track order but I am so excited it is in the very final steps. It's been a long time in the making! Hope you enjoy and if you are interested in purchasing "This Machine" I will be putting an online store here on my myspace page. Stay tuned...
8/9/2007-So, after 1 month in the studio re-recording "This machine" I am so happy to announce that we are just about done. I just need to finish up some vocals and then on to mixing. I can't believe how much fun we had recording and I am sooo happy with the outcome. Working with people that finally understand my vision is a great feeling. I almost feel like something needs to go wrong just because everything seems to have went so well. :-) So as for an update, I should have some new songs up by the end of the month as well as a store on my page for those wanting to purchase "This Machine" . With 11 songs, this will be my first full length album and I can't imagine it going better then it did, especially after everything I have went through over the past few years. I hope you find it well worth the wait as I do! Here is a sneak preview of the songs that were chosen for the CD...YAY!

6/1/2007-So, after a lot of time in the studio recording my album "This Machine" which I planned on releasing the month of June, I am sad to announce that I will be scrapping the CD and starting over. After some trouble with having the tracks mastered and the studio closing down that I was working in, I have done a lot of thinking and I have decided to re-record the album with producer Mike Watts at Vudu Studios. Although it is a huge heartbreak to have to start from scratch, I am extremely excited to be working with Mike Watts and I am sure this time around the songs will be the way they should be. In the meantime, I will be keeping the current tracks on my myspace page and will shortly be making them available for download. But until I feel completely satisfied with "This Machine", I will be holding off on the release until Sept. 2007. I have begun getting the songs ready to back into the studio in July so I will be holding a party at my house to celebrate my first official funding of a 10 song album which will remain to be titled "This Machine". Stay tuned for more info on the celebration!
5/1/2007- I am gonna be giving a FREE CD away to anyone that can design me some pretty flash banners that I can use like the one I have below...I am just not good at flash art nor do I have the patience to learn to be good at it :-) So all you have to do is send me a flash banner that you designed, using any of the images on my page & send me a message with an address where I can mail a CD to. Of course the CD is still in the making so I will be mailing them out when they are done and printed which I am hoping will be by the end of May '07. In the meantime, help me spread the word about the CD and get yours FREE!
4/29/07- Hey everyone! I just uploaded some of the new pictures in which I will be using for the design of my album cover and all artwork for promotion of my CD "This Machine". I plan on sending it in for duplication within the month of May. I would greatly appreciate your feedback and comments on any of them. Melissa & Kristen did a great job on the pictures! I am looking forward to having the CD finished so you can all get to see it in final format :-)

Influences: To sum this up with a few band names would not be accurate. I grew up always knowing I was gonna sing. It was never a question in my mind. My mom tells me stories of how I sang in Polish from when I learned to talk. I can remember writing songs when I was 8-12 years old and recording them onto my cassette recorder in my bedroom. When I turned 12 I discovered the guitar. Then came along bands such as Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Cranberries and many more that have inspired me to be a "songwriter". There have been so many bands throughout my life that have inspired me but my main inspiration came from the things I experienced as a young teenager. Leaving home when I was 16 years old, being on my own and never looking back. These things have made me the person I am today and will always be the root of my inspiration when writing. I have been lucky to also work with a lot of talented musicians over the last few years who I will always admire. And of course Sage who is with me every where I go to keep me calm and collected, Aries who keeps me on my toes :-)...
Sounds Like: heartache, love, uncertainty, somber but uplifting, truth, soulful & driving melody, waking up with the sun glaring in your eyes, beautiful yet painful
