Horns of Moses formed in December of 2004 in Johnson City, Tennessee by founding members Daniel Bratton, Dale Atkinson, and Kenny Hammitt . After finding a drummer and second guitarist, they quickly began working hard on writing and rehearsing. They were playing shows by February of 2005. After losing their first drummer, the band recorded a demo of their first five songs in two short April 2005 evenings with Omega Tribe’s Scott Thomas filling in on drums.
In August 2006 they found their new drummer Matthew Dougherty, who had played in The Business Machines, a local punk favorite. After the departure of their second rhythm guitarist in April 2007, the band decided to continue as a 4-piece with Kenny as the sole guitarist. The leaner, tighter Horns of Moses is tearing up packed clubs all over the region with a fistful of new songs with their brand of blistering metal.
They are preparing to release their first full-length CD entitled "The Last Plague." It is produced by the great Gene Hughes and was recorded at Sonic Designs Studios in Bristol, VA.

There are often questions about what the name "Horns of Moses" means, so here’s the answer:
For several centuries, the christian world believed that Moses had horns growing from his head due to a mistranslation of the Vulgate Latin Bible from Hebrew. The text describes Moses as he descended from Mount Sinai, with his face "shining" with beams of light emanating from his head. When the bible was translated the word "qaran" which means "to shine," was mistranslated as "qeren" which means "horns." Before the text was revised, the idea had been engrained into the consciousness of the Christian world. Evidence of this misconception is still with us today in the form of literature and art including famous sculptures by Michaelangelo and Claus Sluter. Look it up.
So what does this mean? It means that you should not take for granted things you have been told or led to believe. Things you know may be untrue. Things you believe may not real. And things you think may be wrong. Don’t be afraid to think about things and challenge ideas that do not make sense. Scratch the surface, dig deeper, ask questions, and find the proof. Seek the truth at all costs, wether you will like it or not.
