the DownTown

the DownTown, its all about the music!

About Me

Now 21+up ONLY!the DownTown is a small nightclub midway between Johnson City and Knoxville, in Morristown, TN. Our patrons, though occasionally few but often many, LOVE original music of most any flavor (EXCEPT COUNTRY, DEATH METAL, and HIP HOP) as long as its written and performed well. Good food, great music, five nights a week. Check out www.thedowntown.net for more info or to be added to our weekly newsletter.ATTENTION ALL BANDS AND PERFORMERS: PLEASE go to the Hey You page at www.thedowntown.net and read the Booking Info before asking about a show, then send an e-mail directly from there. You can go to the Who? When? page to see if the date you need is open or not, saving us both time.

My Interests

MUSIC, duh. AND life, love and the pursuit of happiness.

I'd like to meet:

Musicians and bands touring this great country of ours in need of a venue to display their talents and find yet another pocket of fans and friends. People who appreciate and love music that may or may never be played on their favorite radio station. Individuals who promote and support all of the above. Our home website is www.thedowntown.net and you can view our entire calendar there on the Who? When? page. Our Top friends here are the artists that are coming to the DownTown soon (except the last four are bands that we LOVE, even if they aren't scheduled. just some really great music. add them and tell them you want to see them at the DownTown). These will be changed periodically so you can all sample what we like to hear.

Music:

YUP, absolutley. Couple favorites, SEEPEOPLES, NO JABOINGA, VERTIGO, THE CUT OFF, DEADSUN, HURTS TO LAUGH, THE RUSE, BLASE DEBRIS, and many more.

Movies:

The Notebook, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Easy Rider, Spinal Tap, Another Woman, The Wizard of Oz, Fritz the Cat, Alice in Wonderland, AND The Princess Bride. this could go on for a while sooooooo,

Television:

As little as posssible unless there's a good movie on, OR Star Trek NG, X-Files, Stargate SG-1 and such like that.

Books:

Any Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle, Frank Peretti, CS Lewis (fer sure), Thomas Merton, Thomas Moore, Neal Donald Walsh, any good musician bios, Eugene Chadbourne's "I hate the man who runs this bar!" (great f-in' book if you're in the music "business"), THE BIBLE, of course, but an interlinear translation from the original manuscripts is preferred.

Heroes:

Our Parents, Our Children, Jesus Christ, Frank Zappa, Glenn Kaiser and others (you know who you are, right?).
