kevin henderson started playing guitar at age 8. soon he had won first place 6 years running for mid america music association (M.A.M.A.) doing guitar solo contests.
then asked to teach at nash music land in st. louis by age 15.he also taught at scotty's music in st. louis. kevin studied music all thru high school later to major in music education at missouri baptist university. he also plays all brass instruments as well as some bass and some keyboards.
kevin has played for many different bands along the way. playing lead guitar for carol glore and the midnite review, crossfire, the skinny lizzards, cartoon cowboy, desert wind, the missouri valley boy's(stoval's grove house band)and currently with sidewinder. he also has helped sit in on occasion for recording artist Nick Nixon. kevin also played in an all origonal christian rock band "project 7" that released their own album in the early 90's that played all over the midwest. he has a range from country, blues, rock and gospel that has influenced him.
always in his heart however was to write his own material and get it out there for others to hear. he has written many songs to date and quite a few registered with BMI nashville. not always concerned about how wealthy it could make him he writes because it is his passion . his guitar is his passion. kevin besides being very personable and never knowing a stranger, has a special gift to write in a way that makes sense to all who listen to the words. sometimes a simple message and other times very poetic in nature. if you ever get to hear some of his stuff it may touch you in some way or another. you can feel what he feels at times by what he writes and how he plays. it can be a moving experience.
he is currently working on a solo project cd which will be titled "kevin henderson/this cowboy's dream
