The Writing Wench is "IN"

About Me

I'm the author of 10 romantic suspense novels, the creator of the Bewitched, Bothered & BeVampyred charitable collaboration that introduced Brokenoggin Falls and its residents to readers and will hopefully soon be extended into a series of charitable books. The authors are aboard, my energy is back and we're ready to fly.
"The drudgery of being a professional writer comes in trying to make good days out of bad days and in squeezing out the words when they won't just flow."
~ Benjamin Cavell
"If you start to revise before you've reached the end, you're likely to begin dawdling with the revisions and putting off the difficult task of writing."
~ Pearl S. Buck

I'd like to meet:

I'm here to network & meet other writers, publishers, agents, TV/Film people, booksellers, and above all READERS!
Kim Harrison, Adam Baldwin, Mike Rowe (of Dirty Jobs who makes me howl with laughter; I think I could do some of his jobs almost as well as he does, but I might puke more often); the Mythbusters!! every single one of them; Colin Ferguson (boy does he make me laugh!); Madelyn Alt (a good friend I have yet to meet in person - like most of the rest of the Witchy Chicks); Joss Whedon, and... I'll have to think about this from here. I've already met an awful lot of people and spoken with them. My "need to meet" list has gotten pretty short over the years.

Music:

My taste in music is very eclectic and often depends on what I'm writing. Right now I'm listening to a lot of Zydeco, Cajun, blues, New Orleans, Detroit & Chicago Jazz because they go with my current work, but I love classic rock, some (not all ;-)) rockabilly, country rock, new wave, hip hop, rap, alternative, classical...pretty much you name it and I can find something in it somewhere that I love. And if you can dance to it, I'm there.

Movies:

Recently viewed: SHOOT 'EM UP - loved it! Clive Owen and Paul Giamatti as Bugs Bunny & Elmer Fudd? Fantastic. And Monica Bellucci was outstanding as well.In no particular order: Serenity, Blade Runner, Witness, all of the Tremors films, Firefly, the Mummy films + the Scorpion King, Bride & Prejudice (Naveen Andrews dancing; gotta love it!), all of the Jane Austen productions especially Pride & Prejudice 2005 (Matthew Macfadyen is an awesome Darcy) and I totally love the BBC production of Mansfield Park, Little Miss Sunshine, Constantine, Sahara (if lunacy and Steve Zahn are involved, color me "there"), Happy, Texas; Underworld, and...the list goes on.

Television:

New Season 2007-08: I'm hooked on LIFE, CHUCK, Reaper, Pushing Daisies and DEXTER, and am very much looking forward to Anthony Mighella's last work the movie to the new HBO series THE #1 LADIES DETECTIVE AGENCY. The books are marvelous and I can't wait for the series. In no particular order: Tremors the Series, Firefly, Eureka, Hex, Buffy, Angel, Boston Legal, Northern Exposure, Bob Newhart (the original), The Closer, Dexter, Deadwood, Dead Like Me, Arrested Development, CSI (the original), Heroes, X-Files, Supernatural, Mythbusters (gotta love Adam, gotta have Grant ;->), Dirty Jobs (Mike is a stitch)...

Books:

Recently read: 13 Bullets, UNSHAPELY THINGS (awesome job Mark!!!), The Extra Large Medium (buy this book and read it now!), Dexter in the Dark (it's Dexter and it's a howl!)Dandelion Wine as well as the rest of Ray Bradbury's works, Tea with the Black Dragon, Witchling, everything by Kim Harrison, Madeline L'Engle, Robert Crais, Yasmine Galenorn's non-fiction, Linda Wisdom, Jeanne Savery, A.A. Milne, William Saroyan, Graham Greene, Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, C.S. Lewis, Lewis Carrol, J.K. Rowling, and I'll add to this list as I think of the rest.

Heroes:

New heroes: My Witchy Chick sisters - Madelyn Alt; Linda Wisdom (a survivor among survivors); Lisa diDio; Yasmine Galenorn (go find and read her D'Artigo sisters series At Once, you won't be sorry); Annette Blair; Kate Austin; Candace Havens; Maura AndersonHmmmm. I'll seriously have to think about this one. Gail Oust would be one. She writes as Elizabeth Turner. Julie Kistler. Laura Resnick. Carla Neggers. The girls who signed on without question when I asked for volunteers to write a book where the authors' royalties would go to tsunami and hurricane disaster relief, among them: Kathy Caskie, Sophia Nash, Jennifer St. Giles, Alesia Holliday, Eileen Dreyer, Lynn Michaels, Linda Wisdom, Judi McCoy, Elizabeth Holcombe, Michelle Rowen (who also did the cover!), the Witchy Chicks - every single one of them.
