About Me

I joined the "London Jazz Scene" initially as a player and composer for the band 'Ahead Only', which played at most of London's Jazz clubs and toured the UK with funding from Jazz Services. I now have a quartet with Dave Cliff, one of Britain’s finest jazz guitarists. Our first album, “Beginning”, is available on FMR Records and a new album has been recorded and will be out soon. We've played at lots of jazz clubs around the U.K. as well as at Cheltenham jazz festival and Swanage jazz festival. 'The Film Band' is a new project where Jim Howard and I write wierd arrangements of really well known themes from movies for sax, trumpet, violin and guitar. It's really good... I'm also in Simon Thorpe's swing band "Jivin' Miss Daisy" which has a C.D. out on Mainstem records, and Saxtet, which has released a C.D. on Jazzprint, including some of my compositions. I play in the John Wilson Orchestra, which has played to sell-out audiences at the Royal Festival Hall and Symphony Hall, Birmingham. John's albums, including Orchestral Jazz with Richard Rodney-Bennett, have been both critical and commercial successes.I was in the house band on the BBC1 show Johnny Vaughan Tonight and have also performed or recorded with Rufus Wainwright, Johnny Dankworth and Cleo Lane, the Hallé Orchestra, "Back to Basie", the Pasadena Roof Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Britten Sinfonia, John Pizzarelli, Sheena Easton, Maria Ewing, Tony Remy, The Christian Vaughan Quartet and the Jazz Crusaders. I can be heard with the John Wilson Orchestra on the soundtrack to the film “Beyond the Sea”, music produced by Phil Ramone and starring Kevin Spacey, released in December 2004.
