A Creative Mind Is A Bad Thing To Waste...

About Me

Dean Allen Choate (aka D.A. Choate) was born in Wausau, Wisconsin on October 13th, 1965 and was raised in the Wausau-Mosinee area in Wisconsin. His creative talent began as an adolescent in Junior High and High School being involved in the High School newspaper, drama, theater and lighting crew, High School radio station and many english and writing classes. This creativity has translated into radio as a local on-air personality, News Videographer for several local television stations, and finally as a writer and poet. His writing has been a hobby since his Junior High and High School days at D. C. Everest in Schofield, Wisconsin.
He graduated in 1984 and went on to the local Technical College to study Business, Supervisory Management and Small Business Management. He has owned, operated, and helped start several companies Wisconsin and Iowa. He is a very active advocate in the Disability Rights Movement in several states testifying and public speaking in front of community leaders, legislators, committees, companies, and community groups. Some of these groups include National Alliance of the Mentally Ill (NAMI), People First Wisconsin, Epilepsy Foundation, and several other groups. He is involved in Severe Weather Spotting(NOAA/Skywarn), Civil Air Patrol(CAP), and Loyal Order Of The Moose. Despite his many medical problems; some of which are chronic and sometimes he continues to stay very active and involved.
Choate’s poetry and writings are very open and honest depiction of things going on in his life at that particular moment in time. His poetry has appeared in several books, anthologies from poetry.com, websites, newsletters of local causes, and in several other media. He has been published in the United States and Internationally. He is working to find a publisher for several of his current poetry books and stories. Take time and enjoy the sample his writings on this website. If you wish to contact me you can reach me by email at [email protected] or instant message me at wispoetrywriter on YAHOO or MSN.

You Should Be A Poet
You craft words well, in creative and unexpected ways.
And you have a great talent for evoking beautiful imagery...
Or describing the most intense heartbreak ever.
You're already naturally a poet, even if you've never written a poem. What Type of Writer Should You Be?
