ALT ROCK BASSIST SOUGHT
We're in desperate need of a new bass player. However, that doesn't mean we are willing to settle for just anyone. The right candidate would be a fan of and versed in modern, alternative rock music; as well as having an appreciation of music from previous generations. If you think you might fit the bill, please contact us.
SECOND GUITARIST and/or SYNTH/KEYS WANTED
We're also searching for someone to fill out our sound with twinkles and splash. Now, I love the various sounds of modern rock guitar. If we can find someone who blends noise and texture with melody and spirit in the way that I wish I could, I will feel as if I have died and gone to Heaven. Bands like Interpol, BRMC, Flaming Lips, Dinosaur Jr., The National, Modern Lovers, Kings of Leon, The Oohlas, and Joy Division come to mind when I think of brilliant guitar work.
Saying the above, I am also a bit of a fan of new wave, lo-fi, synth-pop. Bands like The Rentals, The Cars, Teddybears, Depeche Mode, The Killers, The Postal Service, Snow Patrol are just some of the artists that have very intriguing syhth-work. Now I am not going to pretend to be some euro-pop-dance-snob, but you certainly can. The right keyboardist might even be able to ween me off my deep love of raunchy lead guitar. Are you out there?
Truth told, you don't have to be super-kewl...just love making music...be normal. I hate all the pretentious bullshit that most musicians exude. We are 28 and 34. We're not looking to change the world as much as, I think, we are trying to experience it. Join us, have fun, we'll run the gauntlet together. LOL!
And finally, here's the hard sell:
Please, be relatively drug-free, stable personal life, stable work life. No major egos need apply. Just as we are willing to adjust to you, we need you to be able to morph your playing to fit the needs of the songs. As time goes on, we'll write in a more evolutionary way; there is no one correct way to do it. Think of this as an opportunity for you to add special layers and textures to an existing environment. If your playing style is truely what we are looking for, you will have much more freedom to express your creativity.
BTW, I rent reheasal space in Arlington, near Cambridge. I foot the bill myself. There is NO expectation that band members pay a portion of the room cost.
