Toledo Ohio native son
Started formal music training w/Duane Tovey - Toledo Symphony Orchestra - introduced stringed instruments to my fourth grade class. I chose the Viola! no really - the instrument
Mom & Dad gave me a guitar for christmas when I was thirteen. At 15 I was in a band called Another Day with Jefferson Crowe who later was to be a founding member of regional mid70's sensation "Locoweed"
I bought a Pedal Steel in my early twenties as rehab from a motorcycle encountrer that resulted in broken bones in my right wrist. After a year on a Fender Student model I bought a professional model from Jefferson Crowe then of Locoweed after a couple of bands like Bobbie Bell & Movin On, Sidewinder, and Short Change - I was seriously hooked on the steel. And Dobros, Guitars, Piano, Synthesisers, Mandolin and Bass and would play any date with a variety of instruments.
I have even played Rhythm Guitar in the 13 piece Satin & Brass big band and played guitar in the orchestra of Eddie Boggs 1st Annual Regional Music and Entertainment Awards. I have formed several succesful duets starting with Bruce Lang in the 70's and Chris O'Connel in the 90's and since 2004 with Rodney Parker or any one else that will sing a song. -While I hold to performing but a single song vocally...in honor of my mother, I may branch out after I feel more comfortable with my knowledge and skills on the C6th (inner) neck of my pedal steels. I am relatively new with double neck guitars - but I truly love them - C6th swings! And then the recent addition of the finest lap steels I have played the Asher Electro Hawaiian & Electro Hawaiian Junior. They truly sing! Thank you for my guitars, steels and pedal steels!
I haven't looked back after I fell in love with the instrument. I am lucky enough to now be playing with two great groups - My premier showcase is with Rodney "Hot Rod" Parker and the Liberty Beach Band - we play Rockin' Modern Country. My "other band" is a locally aimed americana/unplugged hillbillized classic rock and blues music - we are The Ottawa Hillbillys and we have a great time together. They are my friends and they add greatly to my enjoyment of my time on this planet.
If you get a chance, check them out...you'll find links in my top friends.
