John McAfee Guitars / Guitar synth / Keyboards / Vocalist.Today’s music scene is a melting pot of musical styles bidding for a place on the charts, record racks or just a gig at the local club. After twenty some years in this rock and roll love affair, John McAfee’s seasoned musical career continues to be an ongoing story of challenges met and goals achieved. Persistence, integrity, and versatility are the primary ingredients that make up Johns musical chemistry. John picked up the guitar at age seven and by his senior year in High School was playing in one of the most popular dance bands in Southwestern Michigan and toured three weeks in Europe as the guitarist for a contemporary pop vocal group participating in the Seifeld Jazz Vocal festival in the summer of 1979. For the next five years John performed in various rock bands including,"KEYSTONE", "BOSS TWEED" "HOT KARGO","ANTHEM","NIGHT SCHOOL",and "THE WIZARDS of AUS" featuring former original BEE GEES Drummer,("Words" Album) Cole Paterson. Performing throughout the mid-western and southern club circuit until 1984 when he moved to Toledo, Ohio to join High Society a touring national Class A club act with full page artist endorsement ads in Guitar Player magazine and other publications. With album tracks underway at Dearborn Heights prestigious “Studio A”, and the first of many video shoots to support the album, John’s songwriting, guitar and vocal talents finally had a solid home. After achieving radio play and a MTV video debut, and under the management direction of TWM (Kool and the gang, John Par) the band changed its name to The Affair and released its first full album and two supporting videos. Radio support and over 300 dates a year attributed to Johns endorsing artist contracts with GHS Strings, Washburn Guitars, Laney amplification and Evans Guitar Products. In 1989 after the completion of a recording project with French pop singer Richard Josef, John and The Affair set out on a three week tour of the Soviet Union in support of a Freedom Ballad released in the Baltic country of Lithuania that pushed its way to the top of charts there. They headlined a ten city tour, including Vilnius and Moscow with Foje Lithuania’s top recording group as their opening act. Upon returning home to the fanfare of the press, John began writing for his final project with The Affair. “Games of Love” was released in the summer of 1992 and received local and regional airplay. Personal and professional differences resulted in John’s departure from The Affair in the fall of 1994. It was at that time John began his own recording and showcase project that would be called “Big Game”, focusing on nothing other than original music. That act would go on to record a CD and open for many top national acts while receiving airplay locally and rave reviews from the press. Big Game continues to perform select shows. For the past eight years (1998 to present) John has been the lead guitarist for the 50’s and 60’s show band Bonkers. While quite a departure from his previous endeavors John helped lead that band on to be voted three time consecutive winners in the Lake Erie Peoples Choice Awards in the classic Rock category. Also recording and producing the groups debut CD “Summer Tease” which also received nomination for best local release. Bonkers continues to be a top drawing act for the summer time fair and festival circuit in Northwestern Ohio and Southeastern Michigan. In the fall of 2003 John along with Bonkers Bassist Randy Monk and former Affair and Big Game Drummer –now Brother in law, Sid Siddall, formed the rock club cover band “MAS FiNA”. Playing the best of the ‘80’s, 90’s and today’s rock hits, Dance and Modern Country. John also had begun working with Nashville recording artist Rodney "HOT ROD" Parker, asembling a top notch backing band to support his live shows, becoming both lead guitarist and musical director. With the growing popularity of modern country music, a club designed cover set was added to the show and the band "RODNEY PARKER and LIBERTY BEACH" was on their way to being the hottest country/rock act in the area. John and Randy both left MAS FiNA in the Summer of 2007 to persue full time dedication to RP&LB, and have seen tremendous sucsess over the last two years, including being voted the Best Country Band in the Toledo Blade's Battle of the Bands, Opening for such National acts as Travis Tritt and Whiskey Falls, headlining several festivals and events, and performing in clubs throughout Northwest Ohio, and Southeast Michigan. As a member of ASCAP John continues to actively write and shop material, write radio jingles and run his recording / production studio Pro-Rege Productions, while participating in out side recording and live projects.John has performed with or opened for the following national Recording Artists: Traviss Tritt, Whiskey Falls, The Spin Doctors, Jason Bonham, Kansas, The Romantics, Gary Richrath (Reo Speedwagon), Henry Lee Summer (CBS records), Robin Trower, Robin Zander (Cheap Trick), Tom Peterson (Cheap Trick), Chris Rizola (Steelheart), Lita Ford, Randy Mizner (Poco-The Eagles), The Bus Boys (48 hours movie), Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow), James Kottack (Kingdom Come – Scorpions), Jon Ster (Lizzy Borden), Blues Saraceno ( Poison), Cole Paterson (the Bee Gees), Wally Stocker (the Babys – Air Supply), Head East, .38 Special, Foghat, Dave Mason, Rare Earth, Vince Neil (Motley Crue), Robin Robins (Silver Bullet Band), Jeffery Kollman, Mitch Ryder,.Recorded Works:w/ Terry Cooper “an evening in Boca” – TCP records 2000 w/ Bonkers “Summer Tease” – Pro-Rege Productions 1999 “Home for the Holidays” – T.H.A.P compilation CD 1998 w/ High Society “Read my Lips” ep and MTV video - Arcadia records 1984 w/ the Affair “First Bite” - MDM records 1987 ASCAP “Games of Love” - Ambassador Records 1992 ASCAP w/ Big Game “Self titled” ep - Pro-Rege Productions 1996 ASCAP “Home for the Holidays” – T.H.A.P. compilation CD 1998 w/ Richard Josef “Vosges” - Arcadia records 1987 “Noel” - Passage records 1988 “Richard Josef” - Passage records 1991 w/ Wendy Badger “Wendy Badger” Denny Lynn Productions 1990.
