No bluff or bluster, just straight up lyrical pride demonstrates that Official F40rty has no worries about competition, on the streets or in the studio.A childhood background in the projects and an innate interest in music led to Official F40rty – to try his hand at hip-hop with cheap equipment but plenty of passion and drive. The odds seemed stacked against him in more ways than one. F40rty daily confronted a harsh social environment, a living situation surrounded by monetary limitations and crime. And high-grade technology was not readily available to him. But determination and talent can overcome incredible obstacles.He began his hip-hop endeavors with a cohort by the name of Senart. F40rty’s technological resources were limited. “We used an old-fashioned earpiece that had an extension mouthpiece that I used to record,†he reveals. “The (sound) quality was really poor but my passion for music grew more and more.†Production values aside,F40rty’s musical abilities shined through the recording restrictions easily. He honed his talent with little in the way of mentoring, relying instead on his instincts and innate skills.His early recording efforts were products of raw brilliance. Using downloaded beats, F40rty unleashed a crafty freestyling flow over the appropriated grooves, demonstrating early on his artistic capabilities. It was but a matter of time before his first mixtape – entitled “200th Street Freestyle King†– hammered into the underground hip-hop market.
A series of mixtapes ensued – including an early, seminal round of releases by the name of “I’m On the Grind†– each one building on the last. F40rty was sharpening his skills each time out, finally resulted in Jenkins being the founding member of a rap group called The Hittsquad. In the process of his DIY hip-hop efforts, F40rty learned every angle of the scene, from recording to graphics to the music itself. His breakthrough – on every level – came with the appropriately titled mixtape “Da Arrival.†It broke the floodgates, garnering a devout fan base.
More recently, the “I’m Hungry U Starvin†mixtape further demonstrated F40rty’ abilities. The album was never released but nonetheless it stands as a testament to what this hip-hop purveyor was capable of. Following that he began to collaborate with fellow rap aficionados in a group effort whose moniker was Hittsquad. The “Grindin Ova Everything†mixtape was the result. Eventually, artistic differences led to Jenkins embarking on a new solo stage in his career. Access to better technology helped augment an already accelerating hip-hop trajectory in Official-F40rty’s life.
Now, the album “Getting Paid†and its hit single “Get It On A Daily†are the latest run in Official F40rty’s climb to success.
