Ian Grant's professional singing career began at a very young age. He was pressured into entering a talent contest by friends who were keen for him to win the top prize of a £50 booze voucher and back then £50 bought a lot of booze! Ian duly won the top prize and everyone was very, errrrrr happy!
As he had never had any formal training or even a single singing lesson, Ian was keen to discover whether the "talent" he'd displayed in the contest could be sufficient for him to sing professionally and approached a local agent for advice
After listening to Ian sing 3 songs in their studio, the agent immediately instructed him to buy a PA system and sufficient sheet music to perform up to 90 mins as he'd be working within 2 weeks!
True to his word the agent had Ian performing in the working mens clubs around the north east of England 2 weeks later and his professional career began at the tender age of 18!
Over the years Ian's career developed to encompass singing as a solo artist, in duo's, harmony groups, bands and covering many different genres, from cabaret in working mens clubs, piano bars, cruise ships and summer seasons at various holiday camps, to singing rock, pop & blues with original and cover bands.
His versatility also meant Ian was in demand as a session singer, providing backing vocals for a number of recording artists and lead vocals for songwriters.
In recent years, Ian has been lead vocalist in the UK's premier Deep Purple tribute band, 24 Carat Purple and is currently promoting the band in Spain and the UK.
In addition to his duties with 24 Carat Purple, Ian can also be found performing up and down the Costa Del Sol.
Ian is available for cabaret and true to his reputation for versatility, can perform either fully self contained using top quality backing tracks, or with resident musicians.
Ian is also available for private functions, parties, weddings, corporate events and can provide a full entertainment package tailored to your requirements, from cabaret to karaoke (with 80'000 tracks), from bands to disco (with full light show and 40'000 tracks).
Over the years Ian has often been referred to by his peers as "The Voice", perhaps because he has never been formally trained or had a single singing lesson, therefore setting his voice apart from the somewhat "cloned" sound of artists who have been through stage school?
Whether you feel the name is appropriate probably depends on the style of music you prefer, but with such a wide repertoire of songs and genre's, you can decide for yourself by seeing The Voice perform live.
