Mother McKenzie

I'm a rock!

About Me

It began in a bedroom. There was this kid who hid in his bedroom and scribbled songs as often as he could, sometimes a couple a day. He began recording as early as twelve, and throughout the years recorded over twenty full length albums, most of which he has vowed never to release for personal reasons. He jumped from band to band, all breaking up after a couple of gigs and a few newspaper articles. There was The Invisible Orchestra, Back on Speed, The Nameless Collective, Brother/Sister, and often Meat Over Moscow. After many years of spiritual unrest, the kid recorded this album called "No Direction" which could best be explained as a musical documentation of hitting rock bottom. The album caught the attention of the small, but growing Las Vegas indie-folk scene, and Mother McKenzie was born. Many musicians collaborated with the kid at shows, including Mike Weller of Hungry Cloud, Tyler Winkler of Van Nuys and Max Supera of Red Sparrow, but it was not until Christopher Reitmaier, a local artist and resident of the infamous KGPA came along that the band really got started. Shortly after, Quinn Beagle joined the group, playing bass, and Joe Ervin and Chris Leland from the band Dreaming of lions continue to collaborate, as well as Joe Kendall from Las Vegas Club. The band is currently recording an album, and its a very hopefull one. Kind of a sister album to No Direction, but more about climbing out of a downward spiral, rather than falling into one. Ronald Corso of National Southwestern Electronic Recordings is playing the producer, and it should be fun. You will like it.
