LA's THE PLACELA SPLASHI was born Sabrina Scherff in Long Island, New York on October 31. Happy Halloween! My family relocated to Southern California, where I spent the rest of my childhood. I was a singer virtually out of the womb, and loved to entertain friends and family with my performances. No stranger to performing in front of a crowd, I grew up playing at piano recitals and singing at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA. I continued to flex my vocal and acting muscles at my alma mater, Mission Viejo High School- Go Diablos! My years there solidified my aspirations to be a performer. At 17, I went off to college at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois to pursue my singing and acting dreams. There, I participated in the university's acclaimed and exclusive Musical Theatre Certificate Program while receiving degrees in both Theatre
and Communication Studies.Following graduation from Northwestern, I promptly moved to New York City - a week and a half after September 11th, to pursue my dream of a career on the stage. After being cast in several regional productions, I was thrilled to become a member of the original Broadway cast of the Tony Award Winning musical, Hairspray. I later joined the touring production of Hairspray as a "Dynamite" and performed in dozens of cities around the nation. When the tour ended in 2006, I returned to Los Angeles to pursue other opportunities-oh yah, and got married to my college sweetheart, Chip Sloan!Back in Los Angeles, I decided to pursue another long held dream of becoming a recording artist. In September 2006, after years of coaxing from my friends and family, I auditioned for American Idol in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As a longtime fan and viewer of the hit show, I knew the process could be draining, but I also knew what an amazing opportunity it could be!!!!
After weathering the grueling audition process, I was advanced to the American Idol Hollywood rounds. Once in Hollywood, I made my mark when I faced the famously critical American Idol judges, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. Finally, all of my hard work was rewarded when I made it to the American Idol 6 Semifinals as a Top 24 contestant! Sadly, I didn't get the opportunity to show the world the VERY BEST best of me as my journey on the show was cut much too short! However, I am hard at work putting together music for you all to enjoy very soon! This is only the beginning!
