latitude:
- the angular distance between an imaginary line around a heavenly body parallel to its equator and the equator itself
- scope for freedom of action or thought; freedom from restriction
longitude:
- the location of a place on earth east or west of a north-south line called the prime meridian. unlike latitude, which has the equator as a natural starting position, there is no natural starting position for longitude.
