I am here for Friends

About Me

I live in beautiful rural Wiltshire with the much abused husband, and work in an independent bookshop (mmmmm free books). It's great getting paid to read books and arrange them artfully in a Blue Peter stylee, and I recently left the big bad world of corporate bookselling (for the evil W) so this is a nice new challenge. I love the countryside (all that fresh air and cows and stuff), but I do miss the clubbing and the shopping in the big smoke :( luckily it isn't far to a city in any direction so I can all too easily feed my shoe habit

In the past few years I have lost a third of my body weight and most of my inhibitions! Now I spend my free time shaking my booty as part of a tribal belly dance troupe called Raqs Romany, dancing tribal fusion incorporating middle eastern rhythms, flamenco, modern beats and burlesque. We hosted an evening at last year's Malmsbury Carnival, combining burlesque wiggling and exotic snake-hipped tribal:

Last year I sat for five hours having a phoenix backpiece, and I reckon it was well worth the pain. Thanks to Ari at Enhance Studios in Chippenham. Check out the pics and let me know what you think :)

My Interests

Burlesque, Tribal Belly Dance, Japanese rope bondage, corsets, sideshows, alternative lifestyles, adopting stray geeks, getting ready for the rubber ball (yes, it does take all year), Singing self indulgently at every opportunity, writing bad poetry and then tearing it up, reading reading reading til my eyes dry up, World domination, shoes, pirates, shoes, ninjas and shoes.

The husband:

I would love to spend all my time on my arse reading comic books, but then my arse would expand to take over the universe and I suspect it would try to do it without me! I think I can hear it planning something, so I do have to go to the gym, but I wouldn't call it interesting. I have discovered that you can read whilst riding on a stationary bike though, so that's my new favourite!

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who knows how to tie the perfect knot, sideshow freaks, gimps, the heavily tattooed, dancers, exhibitionists, Finns (I need to learn your crazy language!), Pirates, Tattoists, old friends, odd friends and everything in between!

The Yard Dogs Roadshow:
