WANTED FOR:
Murder (5 cts.), Tinley Park, IL
This could be the best clue to the killer's identification. An eyewitness told cops that she saw the killer had a braid over his right ear. The end of the braid had four light-green beads on the end. A police sketch artist incorporated those clues into this rendering.
A week after five women were killed and a sixth wounded during a horrific shooting at the Tinley Park Lane Bryant, police Saturday released a sketch of the gunman.
The sketch is based on descriptions given by the sole survivor, a 33-year-old woman who worked part-time at the women's clothing store. She has been in protective custody, recovering from a gunshot wound to the neck since the shooting.
The shooter is described as black with medium complexion and clean-shaven. He is 25 to 35 years old, 5 foot 9 to 6 feet tall, husky with broad shoulders and weighing 200 to 230 pounds.
His hair is described as braided with 3- to 5-inch puffy corn rows pulled toward the back of the head. One braid hangs next to his right ear with four light-green beads on the end of the braid.
The gunman was wearing a dark, below-the-waist jacket, black jeans with embroidery on the back pockets similar to a cursive "G." He was wearing a charcoal gray ski or skull cap.
Also Saturday, police went back to Brookside Marketplace to hand out fliers to shoppers and employees who might have been there one week earlier when the gunman opened fire during an apparent robbery.
Tinley Park Police Chief Michael O'Connell said investigators now are searching across the country for the gunman.
At Saturday's news conference - the last daily briefing police said they'll give about the week-old crime - officers again asked the public for fresh tips.

New Clues In Hunt For Brianna Denison Killer Info sought on panties found near Denison

Panties found near Brianna Denison's body were not hers.
Composite of possible suspect released
Condom seized in prior rape and abduction linked to Denison's abduction
Reno police are trying to identify the female who owned a pair of Pink Panther thong underwear found with Brianna Denison’s body on Friday.
Lt. Robert McDonald said DNA of an unknown woman and the DNA of the man who abducted and strangled Denison were on the panties. McDonald said the underwear was found with Denison’s body but was not hers. The male DNA found on the panties is from the same man who committed at least two sexually motivated crimes against other young college women recently.
Police want to know if the underwear belonged to another victim who has not reported being assaulted or if they belong to a woman who may have dated someone and later noticed the underwear missing. It’s also possible the underwear were stolen in a burglary.
McDonald said it’s important the woman who owns the underwear come forward because the information she has may lead police to the serial sexual predator who killed Denison.
The thong-style underwear are black with cartoon character Pink Panther’s head and pink hearts on it. They appear worn.
Suspect described as a white male between the ages of 28 and 40 who may be driving a pickup truck or a sport utility vehicle.
Authorities reinterviewed the victim of the December attack after they made the match to DNA left behind in Denison's abduction. They hope that details provided by the victim, who has not been identified, might help them identify and apprehend the suspect. The assault victim also told authorities that the truck used in her December kidnap had a dome light above the windshield, was tall enough to require a step and had a floor-mounted console with a radio featuring red and blue LED lighting. A baby's shoe was on the floor of the vehicle, as were pieces of paper with typing. In addition to being a white male likely in his 30s, the suspect was described as about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a long face and square chin. He had a large stomach and an "innie" belly button, according to police. He had shaved the hair around his pubic area and was wearing jersey-style shirt and workout pants with an elastic band.

Nevada: Police Expanding Search For Missing Henderson Woman
Mariela Moreno
Mariela Moreno disappeared without a trace on New Year's morning and hasn't been heard from since. Moreno's boyfriend told her family that he dropped her off at her house 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 1st after ringing in 2008 with friends. He says he drove away and never saw her actually make it to the front door.
It seems as if Moreno has vanished without a trace. On Thursday, the search for Mariela Moreno could get some additional help from Metro Police.
Family videos show Mariela celebrating Halloween this last year with her family. She's smiling and dressed as a pirate while partying at the District.
Mariela's 20th birthday was last Oct. and was a joyous occasion. Lately though, her family's smiles have been replaced by tears. It's been very a tough time for Mariela's sister Monica. She says the worst part is not knowing what happened.
"We are very worried about her," she said.
Missing persons posters are on display and police have been searching, but so far, there's no sign of Mariela. Her cell phone hasn't been used since New Year's Day but the family is just holding out hope.
"I feel that she is alive. I feel in my heart. I think that she's okay, but I don't know why she can't communicate with us," said Monica.
She prays that if Mariela is being held against her will, her captors will think of how much she is loved and missed.
"We love you too much and we're waiting that you're back with us," she said.
This investigation will get a boost Thursday. Metro's Missing Persons Detail will meet with Henderson Police Department in the morning to offer up its resources and any assistance.
