About Me
Thanks for visiting the NESguide; an independent software catalog for the original 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System. In other words, an index of every game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). We don't have any affiliations or ties to Nintendo or any other video game company. We just a group of regular fans.
We finished the basic indexing for the NESguide today. This means we now have images and basic descriptions for exactly 750 NES games. This includes all of the Nintendo licensed titles that were released in North America, minus the multi carts such as super mario/duck hunt and re-release versions of "player's choice" titles such as Metroid and The Legend of Zelda 1 and 2 that were identical to the originals. We also have all of the unlicensed titles with the exception of bubble bath babes, hot slots and peek-a-boo poker. We will add these titles later as they represent the holy grails of NES collecting... we are just a bit standoffish because they're explicit and impossible to find anyway. If you're into NES collection, you probably know about them already... otherwise you'll probably never see them.
We have actual gameplay video for over 200 titles on our site, and intend to capture video for every game. We opted to publish gameplay video instead of only screenshots so you can actually see the action and hear the sound. As every vintage fan knows, graphics alone have very little to do with fun. We're living in the future now. We can have video.
We are currently in the process of writing reviews, collecting more textual information and resource links, and recording gameplay video. Our aspiration in this project is to create a definitive resource of information and media that can be quickly and conveniently referenced by collectors and nostalgic players.
We officially launched this project on Jan 1, 2007 and are excited about the progress we have been able to make thus far. We are constantly adding new videos, reviews, links, information, articles, etc. Getting all of the information together is only the beginning of an intensive process we have in store for analyzing and fully reflecting upon this legendary catalog. Many thanks to our visitors and supporters; NES players around the world!
