Anders Colsefni

Co-founder and original lead-singer of Slipknot. On the prowl to howl once again.

About Me

Where to start.......
First of all, yes. I am the original lead-singer (MFKR) and co-founder of Slipknot. When it appeared we had something "real", I started going by a pseudonymn (fake name) to keep my family from being bothered by my noisy hobby. Andrew Rouw (which yes-rhymes with "cow". I've heard that a gazillion times) became Anders Colsefni. I decided to go back to my birth name around 2001, when my former band "Painface" became "On A Pale Horse". That signaled a profound change in my life, both musically & personally. My kids were also having problems proving to their classmates that their dad was who they said I was. lol.
I am currently happily married to Michelle Rouw, have two sons by my ex-wife (Josh-15, and Luke-13), and one 19 yr-old step-son named Calrissian. (ages as of 1/22/07). I have 3 cats of different origins, and one smelly old dog we've taken in for my mother-in-law, Linda.
Next-on to some more serious bits 'o the turd:
A few years ago, a guy who I knew who played bass for a local band called "35inch Mudder" called me up. His name is Chad Calek and he said he was putting together a DVD about the Des Moines music scene from 1995 on. I did it, as well as other local musicians did, to help promote our own bands as well as add insight to the wierd thing that went on 10 years ago. HE DIDN'T, HOWEVER, TELL US HE WAS ACTUALLY MAKING A HATE-VIDEO ABOUT SLIPKNOT. He EDITED THE SHIT OUT OF EVERYONE'S INTERVIEWS AND PUT THEM TOGETHER TO SUIT HIS NEEDS. DO NOT TAKE THIS DVD FOR WHAT IT CLAIMS TO BE. CHAD IS ACTING OUT OF JEALOUSY FOR WHAT SLIPKNOT BECAME AND WHAT 35" MUDDER COULD NOT. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS (IF HE EVER RELEASES IT). HE IS A SNAKE.
Now, I want to clarify all this by stating that it pains me what has happened with all this bullshit. I really liked 35" Mudder. I remember vividly the first time I saw them live. We both played the Drake Relays festival at The Safari Club (now Hairy Mary's) in Des Moines. We all thought they were tighter than shit. A bit like Rage Against The Machine, but that was better than being a bit like Morrisey, or something. We both had a strong, mutual respect for each other.....until the radio stations got involved. They (primarily Lazer 103.3 KAZR) pitted us against each other. I bought into it at first, then quickly decided it was a fool's game. Music is music-you either like it or you don't. There's no need for all the politics at the local level. Anyhow-its water under the bridge TO ME.
