About Me

Hiya!! Welcome to my li'l personal page I know as Do's Cafe. I'll try to be as complete as I want about my personal stats, hobbies,... Basically everything I can think of. If you really want to know something more 'bout me, just ask.

Name: Dominic Heynderickx
Birthday: 17/09/1979 (easy to remember)
Place of residence: Nieuwkerken-Waas (Belgium)
Vices: Lazy, sloppy

Musical background: On my 16th or 17th year in life, I heard "My Friend Of Misery" by Metallica. I instantly decided I wouldn't rest until I could play the intro flawlessly. I eventually did. The rest if history so to speak.
Followed 2 years of a mix of theory and practical lessons for bass together with practise in band(s). Started out perfecting my technique playing covers by different artists and styles beforing creating my own style: low, deep, hard but above all melodic and suiting to the song. I got a job opening in the thrash-deathmetal band Poseydon which later switched names to Everglow, the band I'm still in.
A short while ago, the former guitarplayer of Poseydon told us he wanted to revive Poseydon and asked me if I wanted to play the bass in that band too... Since I still kinda knew the songs I couldn't do but accepting.
Poseydon is still standing strong, but I'm not in it anymore. I couldn't found myself anymore in the musical turn they took, so I left Poseydon with nothing than fond feelings of comraderie and friendship.
Although I'm not that good in bass-playing (no false-modesty) I'm actually asked to join several bands on a regular base.
For the moment I'm in the backing band for Tommy Waters (www.tommywaters.be - a melancholic rocker) and My Cunning Plan (www.mycunningplan.be - to be released soon - some old school hard rock, metal with more than a strange twist to it.)

Idols in music: I have a couple which can drop my jaw everytime I hear them play:
Guy Pratt: Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Roxy Music
Jason Newstedt: ex-Metallica, Voivod
Marco Hietala: Tarot, Nightwish

My Equipment:
Marcus Basses

I'm proud to say I'm endorsed by:
Warwick Amps and Cabs

Life philosophy: Carpe Diem, enjoy life when the sun shines. Use the sun when the rain clouds your day

Place you would like to go: Canada, Scotland

What makes you laugh: A smiling kid
the laughter of my friends

First record you bought: A compilation of the pop-hits in '93. When I was 15 or 16, metal made its entrance in my life and the first record I bought then was One - the Single.

All time top 5 albums: On this moment:
Pink Floyd: Pulse (Live @ Earl's Court in '94)
Everglow: Turn Back Time
Metallica: St.-Anger
Ayreon: The Human Equation
Tiamat: A Deeper Kind of Slumber

Personal highlight: Playing in a full tent with Everglow

Strangest experience: Dreaming things that happen some time later.

Worst nightmare with Everglow: Not being able to play the bass anymore.

Worst nightmare in general: Something bad would happen to my family when I'm away, and couldn't do anything.

Favorite song: Pink Floyd - Sorrow
Ayreon - Beneath The Waves

Favorite drink: Ice Tea, Cuba Libre (thanks Guy!!), Mojito, the occasional Hoegaarden (a white, mostly unfiltered beer)

Favorite food: Wocked meals

Favorite movie: Star Wars / Top Gun (don't you laugh!) / The Crow / Alien-saga / Highlander-movies / Lord of the Rings-saga / Sci-Fi

Favorite TV show: Mostly 80'ies and 90'ies show: Airwolf and Seaquest DSV, MacGyver. The contemporary series are just bollocks.

Dumbest question you have ever been asked: In a room full of empty, non-assigned chairs: Which chair can I take... (I died)

My Interests

Bassplaying, especially on my custom made Marcus 6 string bass, through a Warwick head and cabs.

Watching sci-fi movies
Reading books
(long-distance) hiking
