Skiffle Symphony

JUG and STRING band music

About Me

Skiffle music is a blend of several styles, using an assortment of homemade instruments. Just about anything could be Skiffle if you play it on a washboard, a gut-bucket, a jug, or anything you can find around the house. It’s an American phenomenon, but the name was coined in England. It was taken from the word "scuffle," which means to play on the street, attempting to shake some money out of those passing by.

The Skiffle Symphony was created just before the turn of the millennium to raise a rukus in Sonoma County, and beyond, and has done so successfully. Fueled by many talented people and their passion for old time jug band music for the last 8 years, it has been an outlet for many people who for some reason or another had the urge to play old-fashioned music with a new enthusiasm.
