About Me
to my page. My name is Ron for those of you who don’t know me, and are just checking out pages. I made this page to keep in contact with old and new fiends, and to create a fun page for people to visit. My fist love (like many people) is music. You’ll find a lot of my favorite bands icons on this page. I have set them up so that when you click on them, you will be taken straight to their Myspace page. I hope you enjoy the Dizzler music and video player at the top of the page. Click on the film strip on the right and enter the name of your favorite music video or just search for videos by key words. Some videos take a while to start up. You may want to try more than one results before you get one that boots right up for you. The same goes for the music. Click on the music note and enter your search where it says Search Music.
NEW BANDS**I get a lot of new bands from a lot of places sending me requests to add them onto my friends list. If I like them, I add them on, and make a large icon for them inside my band list below. If you have a Myspace page for your band, send me an invitation to be a friend and I will give you a listen. You will quickly notice my taste in music, but if you look closely, you will notice that I have a wide range of great bands I have loved for years.MONEY**Who doesn’t love it, need it, and strive every day to get some more of it? My quest for it has taken me all around the country and back. Out of all the ways there are to make money, and the many more I will some day discover, there are so far two that have been my favorite. I began the first one just four years ago. I found myself in northern Michigan needing to find work. There was a festival going on in the area, and one friend suggested that I go down and ask around to see if I could help out and make some money. Which brings me to explain a few of my slideshows on this page. Welcome to the Carnival Life. There are few things to do in a carnival. Foods, rides, ticket box, and games. If you work for a carnival, you’ll most likely be doing one of the four. If you’re a talker and a people person like myself, you may find yourself in the games section. I had never done this kind of work before, or known anyone who had when they just weighed me up, and put me where they thought I would fit in best. I quickly learned that I was more than perfect for the life and became as close as family to some of the best in the industry. A great old man named Rick gave me all the gears I needed as a yearling to be a strong agent and learn to survive in such a subculture. As the thick and thin came and went throughout the season that year, I learned more and more from those friends and family around me. In six months of being on the road, I figure I might have soaked up about three or four years worth of education.POLITICS**It seems the world is governed by some form of them everywhere you go. Never considered myself a politically aware kind of person….until It paid. Like I said, I became a Professional People Person. When I came off the road after my first season with the show, I was lucky enough to be able to stay with some of my new family. They “sat on me†sort of speak, and gave me some of the knowledge they had gained throughout their years as if I were there very own kid. For many years, they had been working the carnival circuit during the summer months and traveling around the country with different organizations petitioning to put various types of issues on the ballot for voters to vote on.CALIFORNIA**My first campaign was in California. I had never petitioned before, but my friend Pat knew that I would be perfect for it. She showed me in her living room how to approach strangers and ask them if they were registered voters, and then ask them for a signature. Feeling sure I could do it, I accepted the opportunity to fly out to California and work under a guy I had never met before in my life. There wasn’t any crew working together. I had no vehicle. I borrowed money from that person until I got paid for my first couple of days work. I didn’t know anyone at all, and I had never been in southern California in my life. My first week, I petitioned in south central. It was tough getting started, but once I got the hang of it (and found a steady venue), I turned a $1.50 per signature referendum into $3,000 in ten days. (Referendum to Overturn Davis’ Mandatory Health Care Plan) Once I saw how collecting signatures relentlessly all day and night paid off, I dug in with all four. It’s a lot like the carnival in the fact that if you stay in the game all day long and get as many as you possibly can, it all adds up at the end of the day. It’s called a slow grind. It’s long hours, and takes endurance. It’s not for just anyone, but it builds a nest egg and character that’s for sure. Needless to say, there’s no room for a life when campaigning though.LOVE**Like everyone else, I seem to have been in and out of it for years. It’s the mission of finding that happy medium out there. I found mine when I wasn’t even looking. As a matter of fact, I was dead set against ever looking for it again. I had what I needed in life and that was my careers. I had been ripped off, cheated, and lied to by all the best with nothing to show for my shredded heart and efforts. When I met Janet it was in the Bay Area of northern California working on an issue for the Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
She was there working with the same crew and company that I was. We were all staying in the same hotel. I had had brief conversations and a few drinks with her before we both realized exactly how fond we were of each other. The first few conversations as a matter of fact where ones about work and how we were both sick of the opposite sex. A few week into the campaign, she had a birthday, we had some drinks, and decided to renegotiate the nature of our relations.Being the most profitable campaign so far and the fact that I had become very attached to my new found companion, we decided on an after campaign vacation down the coast of California. When everything was wrapped up, We rented a Dodge Durango and headed down the Coast from Interstate Highway 1 starting at San Francisco. Our first stop overnight was in Santa Cruz where we took pictures of the Boardwalk and had drinks on the channel that goes out onto the ocean. From there, we made our way down to Monterey. There we visited all the neat shops, and visited the Aquarium where we saw huge tuna, stingrays, jellyfish, and other live ocean life exhibits. Our journey down to Hollywood took us through several beautiful places where we stopped including Santa Monica, Santa Barbara, Morro Bay (Morro Rock), and Malibu. We simply had to stop in Malibu where the Pacific Coast Highway meets Sunset Blvd at a little place called GLADESTONES! From there, we enjoyed Salmon, Clam Chowder, and washed it all down a couple of Long Island Iced Teas as we watched the sun hide behind the north side of Malibu Bays cliffs.HOLLYWOOD!**Like most visits to Hollywood, we spent the few days there visiting various shops and restaurants along Hollywood Blvd and Sunset Blvd. We bought a lot of souvenirs and took pictures of all the sites and stars on the Walk of Fame . We visited the Rock Walk at Guitar Center and of course Larry Flints main shop on Sunset Blvd. We saw a band at the Viper Room, and drank and played guitar out on the sidewalk with some fun people on Sunset Blvd. After all that, we went north of L.A. and visited one of Janet’s cousins before heading out across the Mohave Dessert to Las Vegas Nevada.
The Dessert was in its 100 Year Bloom. We took pictures on the way in, it was so beautiful and green. When we arrived in Vegas, we looked up our friend D Lo. He was born and raised in Detroit but now lives in Vegas. He is a very talented young rapper we met while working with his mother on the campaign in California. He showed us around a bit and we decided to stay on Las Vegas Blvd at Circus Circus. We checked out all the Blvd places like MGM Grand, Paris, Caesars Palace, The Bellagio, Treasure Island, and Balley’s. We loved it and ran like hell once we realized our losing potential. We headed back and re-visited her cousin again before returning to the Bay Area to return the Durango.CROSS COUNTRY**We decided then, to go home by way of GREYHOUND! All I can say is that it was cheaper and less expensive than driving. The bus isn’t the most luxurious way to travel, but we saw some great sites in Salt Lake City, and Denver where we stopped an got a room to break the trip in half. (Reccomended). From there we went up into Chicago and then over to Michigan. One year later, we exchanged rings and vowed to never leave each others side. We’re happier that either one of us ever have been. We campaign together and have even worked together out on the midway. She is as loving and supportive as my grandma always has been, and for that, she will have my love and support as well….forever.
