FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Critically acclaimed rock bands, To Whom and Three5Human, to perform at local poetry slam finals
Local promoters use poetry and music to bridge cultural gaps
ATLANTA-----January 25, 2008----- This February, Atlanta audiences will be treated to a mostly unlikely of pairings--a $1000 poetry slam that will include a rock concert. Local promotion group, Below The Radar, will welcome national recording artist, To Whom and Three5Human, to Twisted Tongue IV-- a poetry slam finals featuring 10 of the top poets from across the country and a $1000 cash prize.
This event will take place February 22nd at The Loft located at 1374 W. Peachtree inside the The CW Midtown Music Complex and will feature three rounds of performances judged by five celebrity guest judges. Griffey 2K, from the A-Team Morning show on 107.9, will provide some comic relief as well as serve as one of the guest judges. This will mark the fourth and final installment of the Twisted Tongue Poetry Slam series. In the three previous events, poets competed for a $500 cash prize as well as a chance to compete for the $1000 prize and ultimately a chance to perform at the Akoben Music Festival in New Orleans.
"We knew because of our presence in the local community would get a certain level of attendance, but we were really shocked by how diverse the audience was becoming," said Below the Radar founder and National Poetry Slam Champion, Bethsheba "Queen Sheba" Rem. "We felt this was the right time to push the envelope and bring the 99X and the V103 audience together under one roof."
Both Sheba and fellow promoter, HBO Def Poet Tommy Bottoms are popular fixtures on the nation's underground poetry scene, and host and attend similar events throughout the city.
"As Atlanta population surges with transplants from all over the country with diverse social, economic and cultural backgrounds, people are looking for entertainment that reflects that diversity." Says HBO Def Poet, Tommy Bottoms.
To Whom, who gained national attention after stellar performances at Lollapalooza and placing first in the Coors Light Battle of the Bands, have played with various artist ranging from Ludacris to Hoobastank. As one the feature bands they will play an hour set of the fan favorites that have garnered them a cult-like following.
Three5Human, who describe their sound as "Rock with a lot of Soul", will also entertain the audience performing songs from their current album, A Swig from the Acid Bottle, as well as other favorites from there collation. Three5Human is currently on a national tour with the Indigo Girls.
The Twisted Tongue promoters are planning for the next slam series in April which will feature, Hidden Beach Recording Artist, Jaguar Wright. The Twisted Tongue Poetry Slam/Rock Concert will kick off at 9:15 p.m . at The Loft located at 1374 W. Peachtree located inside the CW Midtown Music Complex. The doors open and Silver Carpet event begin at 8 p.m, and tickets are $15 in advance. For more information, please log on to

About To Whom
To Whom formed after vocalist and writer Nick Chahwala was introduced to instrumentalist Charles Malone and drummer/percussionist Alex Selph. The three came together for the first time in the studio to collaborate on the three song demo "Neo-mus-e-cal." . They had created a sound that was both musically diverse and embraced by audiences everywhere. To Whom continued to gain momentum while lighting up the stage with their highly energetic performances at Lollapalooza, Music Midtown, Downtown Rocks, and many other national festivals. While exposing their music to continued crowds and new fans, To Whom went on to score first place in the Coors Light Battle of the Bands, Miller Light Band Search, and other contests allowing them to receive instant national recognition. After a whirlwind of performances with world renown artists such as 30 Seconds to Mars, Ludacris, The Roots, N.E.R.D., Hoobastank
About Three5Human
When a mutual friend introduced Trina Meade and Tomi Martin they knewright away that there was a special chemistry between the two. Even so,as one of the most sought-after guitar players in popular music by every superstar from OutKast to Eric Clapton, Tomi was not yet convinced that Trina would be the lead vocalist in the band he wanted to form. That is until Trina decided to prove to him that she could not only sing like no other, but she was also blessed with the ability to write great songs. Stereo Popsicle, which is what they were initially called, released its first CD shortly afterward, generating a lot of buzz and radio
airplay on three of Atlanta's top FM stations, each playing different songs: 99X (Mr. Lonely), Star 94 (Georgia) and 96 Rock (Story).
