For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic...

About Me

To Whom It May Concern:
Thanks for stopping by and showing some love. Whether it was accidental or intentional; my profile view still goes up +1….HAHA! Anyway, what I’m about to say will either bore you, make you laugh, or hopefully inspire you in some way or another. So on with my life story…
~ I was born in Lakehood…I mean Lakewood, California. The 562 area of lovely SoCal. I was actually born in the same hospital (Lakewood Regional) where my parents met. My Dad was a dishwasher in the cafeteria and my Mom was a dietician who worked in the office in the back of the cafeteria. Isn’t that freakin’ cute? They immigrated from the Philippines in the 70s by the way. I think that makes me Filipino as well. And First Generation American!
~ I have one lovely sister named Michelle. She’s a fellow Gemini (like me and my Dad). She’s 29 (but let’s say 25 because girls like that). Ate, if you are reading this can I borrow $100? I’ll pay you back on the 31st! Promise.
~ I was raised in Bellflower, California…which is right next to Lakewood. I still reside there to this day. So it has been a good 20 years in this great but kinda ghetto city. I went to Ernie Pyle Elementary (Go Panthers!) and graduated from Bellflower High School (Go Bucs!) in 99. Where are my peeps at?
~ However, I lived in Lakewood for 3 years, Santa Ana for a year and a ½, and Costa Mesa for a year and a ½. I love Orange County immensely. At times though; I felt it was tOo nice for my ghetto-ass. If you ever lived in Villa Venetia in Costa Mesa, you know exactly what I’m talking about. It had a man-made lake with paddle boats, a movie theatre, 24-hr. gym, lighted tennis courts, 3 pools, 3 jacuzzis, gas grills, and pool tables. It was a great experience while it lasted.
~ I experienced a lot of death in my life. My friend passed away this year (RIP Lucy!). My co-worker/friend passed away in 04. My Grandfather (Mom’s side) passed away when I was 12. My Grandmother (Mom’s side) died the morning of my graduation in 99. My Mom (mi vida) passed away from breast cancer in 98. Early detection ladies!!!!! It’s horrible watching the person that gave you life slowly die in a span of a few months. It has been 9 years already, but it really seems like it happened yesterday. That pretty much led to my downfall in life. I struggled for many years, a lot due to my own stupidity but hell; I’ve COME A LONG WAY. Those who have known me those years know what’s up. I still have many flaws; but everyday I improve. I’m very truly blessed with everything that I have. I have my own place, a great job, a car that runs (yes, RUNS), wonderful friends, and a loving family. Don’t take ANYTHING for GRANTED people! Regret is one of the worse emotions you could possibly feel. Appreciate everything you have! We live in America. There are people (like in Dafur) who are in far worse situations than us.
~ I freakin’ love SPORTS! Uh, let me correct myself. I’m not too much into playing…just a lot of watching. But that’s with the exception of Baseball and Golf. My three favorite teams are the Anaheim Angels, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Dallas Mavericks. So between all three teams they just have 2 Championship Titles. Eh, it’s all gravy. It’s far more gratifying when you struggle to get to the top. At least that’s what I tell myself to make me feel better. Besides those three sports; I also like watching Tennis, Golf, Soccer, UFC, Pride, IFL, X-Games, and K-1. This is also going to be my first year playing Fantasy Football. Hopefully my team – The Rice Rockets; will tear it up this season.
~ I attended three colleges – Long Beach City College, Westwood College, and Orange Coast College (favorite). I didn’t have much focus though. I had a lot of bills, and I chose making money at the time as opposed to making better money in the future. It was very hard for me to support myself by working 40+ hours a week and going to school at the same time. It left me physically/mentally drained and I was a zombie. When my Mom passed away, my Dad stuck around for a year and a ½ and then boned out to the Philippines. So at 19, reality just hit my sister and me in the face. I always wondered if I still lived with my parents, what my academic outcome would be today.
~ I’m am currently an Underwriting Assistant for Navigators Insurance in Irvine, California. I’ve been working in the Insurance Industry for 5 years now. 4½ of those years I was a Mailroom clerk for First American Specialty Insurance Company. I finally left that company and pursued something more mentally challenging. I’m very meticulous and it’s perfect for the field that I’m in now. I make good money, but once I finish taking all my insurance classes and become a licensed Underwriter; it’ll be way more financially gratifying. I see myself in this industry for at least 5-10 years minimum.
~ My true passion is Music. I like all aspects; whether it be singing, dancing, or playing. It would be my dream to leave the insurance industry and play bass in a metalcore band or big band. I know that it’s two entirely different genres but that’s what I love about music. Freakin’ VARIETY! As you can see in the music section of my profile I love all kinds of music. That helps with everyday life. We experience different emotions and being one-sided musically doesn’t really make sense to me. I can’t imagine listening to Death Metal if I’m in love or listening to Christian Music if I’m pissed. That’s why I listen to Hip-Hop, Alternative, Reggae, Hardcore Punk, Metalcore, Reggaeton, Dancehall, Bachata, Big Band, Jazz, Punk, Classic Rock, Classical, Hard Rock, House, Jungle, Funk, Metal, Trip-Hop, and Pop.
~ My favorite instruments are the Violin, Piano, and Acoustic Guitar. I have no real explanation why; it just sounds so good to my ears.
~ As for singing, I’m just a karaoke guy. Until I can play an instrument while singing or have the talent to write songs I’m pretty much hopeless in this department.
~ Dancing-wise, I’m not a salsa, tango, or a jive guy. I’m more of a popper and house stepper. If you are part of the dead SoCal Rave Scene you’ve probably seen me in one of the circles. I haven’t gone to an “event” since Monster Massive last year so that’s probably the next one I’ll go to. So go find me outside in the House room on October 27, 2007.
~ Ahhhhh…..Religion. I’m not too big on Organized Religion. I’m on my own spiritual plane. I took what I learned from being Catholic and adopted my own morals and beliefs. We’re all humans and we’re not perfect. So we’re bound to mess up many times throughout our life. And I’m not too concerned on what happened thousands of years ago. What really irritates me is the hypocrisy in religion; especially in my own Catholic religion. Are you going to devote your life to God or diddle little kids? It’s an A or B answer, none of this all above crap. Another thing that bugs me is the whole Christian Right movement. Don’t we have freedom of religion in this country? Who gives you the right to censor what you think is not right for us? I want to state though that these are clearly my own personal opinions. I mean no disrespect towards your beliefs, so please don't push yours on mine.
~ Now on to a really fascinating topic. FOOD! If I could literally fart my calories away instead of gaining weight I’d be in heaven. All you guys with the great metabolism, enjoy it while it lasts! I’ll pretty much eat anything that swims, flies, hops, runs, and walks. My favorites are “Don’t Fuck With Philippine Cuisine”, Spanish, Thai, Japanese, Cajun, and Chinese. I love good ol’ heart cloggin’ American food as well. Dating back to my first job (Angelo’s Burgers on Ryon & Alondra in Bellflower), I developed a fondness for grilling anything in sight. My secret weapon is patience and aluminum foil.
