Take a little bit of alternative, through in some metal, rock and roll and a whole lot of determination, and you get Pocatello’s own Hatelocker. Fueled early on by singer and guitarist Noel’s love of music, combined with drummer Mike’s ability to put a beat to anything. These guys have a rare combintion of individual talents that make them unique. The list of bands they have performed with is impressive for their short career. They have performed with most of Southeast Idaho’s local rock bands including The Unread, Sonic Devastation, Denots, AndeConda, Ixxion, Hope to Hate and Neckbrace as well as bigger bands such as Northwest Royale, Six, Paylface, Kicking K8, NYC, Domeshots, the Sammus Theory and Six Ounce Gloves, many of which are Jagermeister bands. In 2006 they won the Pocapolozza competition, proving themselves a force to be reckoned with on the local music scene. The roots of Hatelocker where planted in 2003 when Noel Thomas met drummer Mike Hopkins through a common connection. Noel worked at a local grocery store with Mike’s mom, who mentioned that her son was a drummer. Noel gave Mike a call, and as they say the rest is history. Their sound ranges from eerie and melodic to angry and energetic, which can be explained by their diverse musical backgrounds. Noel is greatly influenced by bands such as Mudvayne, The Smashing Pumpkins and especially Nirvana. Mike loves his metal, especially Hatebreed, Chimaira and Slayer. Hatelocker has released three demos and is currently working on their first full-length album, Nightdreams and Daymares.
