Writing new EP!

About Me

Anubis - Proven Not by the Means of a God (Live at Sticky Fingers)

Turn Into Ruins - Live in Mölndal!!
The band has its roots in the summer of 2005 when guitar-players Fredrik (Fidde) Högberg and Erik Sandin decides to form a band. Luckily enough Fidde already knew an astounding percussionist by the name of, Aron Johansson. As they both heard him play in the rehearsal room they knew he was a perfekt member of the band “Ignition”. They couldn’t find a bassplayer so Erik asked his friends Victor Bengtsson if he wanted to join in. He was a bit sceptical about it because he had never playad the bass or any other instrument in his whole life, but eventually he agreed to join. In about a months time he decided to leave the band because he couldn’t learn to play and they had basically nothing to play but covers. So then in desperate searching for a new bassplayer they couldn’t find anyone who was good enough. The future for the band didn’t look so bright afterall. But 1year later ( summer of 2006) Erik’s friend Jonathan (Jonte) Thorpenberg who at the moment was bassplayer in the band Crash asked if they could start a band together. Erik let the band meet and get to know Jonte and see what he was capable of playing. Everyone in the band got extremely impressed by his fast shredding and overall skilled guitarplaying and decided that he was a part of the band. But then Fidde and Erik started discussing bassplayer. And Fidde did a heroic move and decided to be the new bassplayer. And now with the new band setup we decided to change the band name to Anubis (after many other changes). After a while Jonte and Erik started writing songs that became really great but still missed something. After some time Erik and Jonte went to MUG and played their new song with 7-string gutars and and realized how much better it sounded. Then decided to get themselves 7-stringed gutars and a 5-string bass. So now with their new gear the band started rehearsing a lot more and to perform more aswell. Since Jonte started to like the sound of Anubis more and more, he wanted to spend more time with the band. So he decided to leave Crash and focus on the project Anubis.
In the summer of 2007, Anubis recorded their first demo "The Legions of Ishtar" at Peekaboo Studios in central Gothenburg. It contained 4 songs and has gotten great respons, not only on local gigs, but people from around the world has listened to it. In january of 2008, Anubis entered a contest called, Emergenza, and made it to the semi-finals. The reward of this is to play live at one of Gothenburgs most respected clubs; Sticky Fingers. The month after that, they where contacted by Respawn Records and were asked if they interrested in appearing on a complimentary CD for unsigned bands all around the world called, Underground Assault vol. 8. Of course they accepted the offer and the song Turn Into Ruins was the chosen song for the CD...To be continued
