I consider myself a Tribal Bellydancer in my heart, the job just keeps the tent over my head :)

Tribal Belly Dance is my passion - it makes my body move and my soul sing! I had an amazing year in 2006 kicking off my deam of Tribal Blossoms with the aim of finding like-minded souls who wanted to do improv....and finding 12 beautiful souls who joined me on their dance journeys...since then the Blossoms have multiplied and I'm awed and excited to be joined by the women I now call my students & friends and join them on their dance journey. I'm thrilled and motivated by tribal visitors from interstate and beyond who are now sharing our dance on a regular basis - how cool is that?

2007 is almost over and has been a great year of Change,Growth & Balance for the Blossoms - my new structure with Gay & Julie bringing in the new blood I mean students :) has seen a fantastic and overwhelming response, winning more hearts to the dark side (choreography be damned) and giving me more time to hang with the neighbours enjoying the vino & the view, while my kitty cats & boy warm my heart.

My recent adventures have seen me share my love of sword with my students, seeing them move with their sword in such strong, dynamic ways rather than just the old plonking on the head trick - dancing WITH our swords have given us more opportunity than ever for theatrics and drama, a bit of tension and of course a new costume! Our weekly sword classes are going to continue to be a focus for creativity and working within the team structure the feedback has been great, i really do feel we're breaking new ground here too!

Tribal Blossoms has turned its focus this year on performance at Community Festivals & Events...if you'd like to book our troupe please email me so we can discuss what you'd like to plan...A beautiful and dynamic vision of colour, power and unity in dance.

Pimp My Profile

I'd like to meet:

Sue Erokan & the Clandestine girls - everything I've learned of their style has me drooling for more! Sabine from Tribalation - the most amazing sword dancer I've seen in a long while who inspires me and challenges me to try that little bit more! My dance mentors I've met but would treasure time spent again - Paulette & Jeff (Gypsy Caravan) the most awesome and giving couple of their lives and inspiration... Carolena & Megha (Tribal Pura) who I enjoyed sharing their space, and being inspired on so many levels of where this dance came from! My fellow tribal sisters from Australia - who are creating some damn fine tribal :) and of course anyone local or afar who's ever loved to show their belly and groove! Perhaps I can sway you to tribal??? you'll never know if you dont try! What Kind Of Belly Dancer Are You?
You are a tribal dancer! You love the darker side of belly dance, and wow your audiences with suttle, yet effective isolated movements. Your love being with a group or by yourself and enjoy improvisation rather than a set choreography

Music:

World & Eclectic sounds, look under itunes for my current source of inspiration

Movies:

I'm a bit old school - Star Wars (a new hope), Cecil B De Mille's Ten Commandments, Sound of Music, Lion King, Dark Crystal, Swingers, Life is Beautiful, Amelie, Monsoon Wedding, The Princess Bride (anything Mel Brooks really) and I've been known to pause for Hollywood type action flicks (the Mummy & x-men series)

Television:

not often home...dancing three nights a week tends to eat up regular viewing - but Iron Chef rocks my world!

Books:

A speed reader who's only met one other like me, I devour through Sci-Fi, Travel, and most general fiction with the odd scattering of Literature. Catch22 is hilarious and worth several re-visits...Brisbane writer Kim Wilkins is amazing and original, I enjoy the simplicity of Alexander McCall-Smith as well as the wit of Ben Elton & Kathy Lette.
