DJ AFIFA -SOUNDS OF LIFE

About Me

With the gift of music spinning from her fingertips Afifa is blessed with the talent of creating moods and vibrations with an eclectic and exciting mix of Neo-Soul and World Beat, Jazz and Reggae, Hip-Hop and Funk. Born the 10 of January 1981, Afifa as always had a tremendous love and appreciation for music that got her at a very early age fantasizing about being one of the world’s greatest disc jock’s and owning her own sound system. This love developed an undeniable thirst that could only be quenched by her growing musical catalogs that had her sacrificing lunch at school in order to achieve.Always on the quest of broadening her skills and musical horizons her favorite hobby used to be going to parties to check out the tricks and trade of a variety of disc jocks, gaining some priceless experiences which she now combines within her craft. Committed to this continuous development, Afifa used all the resources at her disposal exposing her to various different genres of music giving her a cutting edge versatility and style that will leave you amazed. She as a knack for recognizing and deliberating great music, creating waves of pleasure within her audience that sends spirits soaring to heights of ecstasyGenerally the musical center piece at her dorm room parties held with friends on the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. Afifa had proven herself to be more than just a mere musical junky; having under her belt: A First Degree in International Relations and Politics, A Masters in Governance and Public Policy and she is currently pursuing a PhD in Sustainable Development. She has succeeded in creating a fruitful academic career. She remembers getting into loads of trouble for constantly playing her music too loud while being a resident on Irvine Hall on campus, but says her predominant love for entertaining and putting smiles on faces outweighed the consequences by far. With dorm life now behind her, Afifa is finally ready to live out her childhood disc jockey fantasies to the ultimate.Armed with techniques gained through the constant exploration of her craft, comparing and contrasting styles from the best disc jockeys in the business, Afifa will prove herself to be just what she already is, “a gift to entertainment”.
