Scarcely two meters largely, slim and athletically, special characteristic are his long rastas, which belong somehow to many men of the Caribbean Island Jamaica.
Contrary to most of his compatriots Andru Donalds is limited by no means on Reggae and Rastafari mythology. “My father informed as a professor Theology and Psychology to the Princeton University (New Jersey), in Atlanta, London and New York. The Campus was my playground, I was exposed to the most diverse humans and cultures , which affected my musical development. Additionally I got classical music training as a child and sang in the boy‘s choir. Naturally my parents would have preferred me to persue an academic career, but I was always the rebel of the family and I knew that this is not my way of life.”
Directly after school 18 years old Andru took his suit-case and travelled and lived in England, Holland and New York, in order to develop his musical qualities as singer and songwriter. In this time he became acquainted with the producer and Songwriter Eric Foster White, who had his first hits with stars such as Whitney Houston or Regina Bell. White was immediately clear that Andru is an exceptional singer.
Together they produced the debut album “Andru Donalds”, and success was not long in coming.The two singles “Mishale” and “Save me now” became world-wide hits. Until today they are still present in international radio stations.
For the preparation of his second album Andru Donalds took much time and published this three years later, in the year 1997. „We did not want to deliver a poor copy of “Mishale”, but show our advancement, and the pressure of the public was very large“. The album “Damned If I Don´t” came out.
In April 1998 Andru Donalds recieved a call from the producer Michael Cretu, which wanted to engage him for the Enigma project. He had heard during one vacation “Mishale” and had known immediately that this voice is singular.
After the first meeting both were inspired so much from each other that they worked first on Enigma and in the connection directly on the third and fourth album of Andru Donalds. Two diverse and universal pop albums came out, as Andru describes his music.
“All out of love”, the first single from the successful album “Snowing Under My Skin”, achieved international platinum status and was one the most successful Singles 1999.
In the last three albums Andru participated as guest singer with Enigma, the world-wide successful music project of Michael Cretu, with in each case sold over seven million records. Also he wrote, produced and song on the soundtrack to the film “Barefoot”, the successful movie staring and directed by Till Schweiger.
The year 2005: In the meantime ten years passed, and the ways of Andru Donalds and his discoverer and first producer Eric Foster White again crossed. Both look equally on a decade back with interesting developments and important experiences. There is on the one hand White, who wrote and produced Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson and Backstreet Boys which sold over 70 million records world-wide. And there is Andru, whose voice and musical talent developed themselves enormously. With this acquired treasure, authority and maturity they both have found their creative edge again.
At 24.03.2006 released Virgin Music the marvellous “Best OF” album with the largest hits of the last years as well as five brand-new Songs - 5 strong Pop numbers with convincing hit potential; indeed “Dreamer”, “Let the stars fall down”, “Nothing can stop us”, “What about me” and “One of thease feelings”. The album offers an outstanding mixture from Pop, Rock and Reggae, and once more shows Andru´s range and the greatness of his voice through the exceptional producers Eric Foster White and Michael Cretu.
The first single “Dreamer”, one the new Songs, which can be defined as a Radiohymne, probably describes the artist personality Andru Donalds the best: “A gentle giant with soulful music.”
