It’s a place where hypnotic and carefully constructed beats mix and share their tales.A place where addictive hooks met with cynical loops.Where flamboyant melodies lead the charge and subtle snares delightfully retreat.Lost? It’s at the junction where city lights meet late night revellers. The exponential success of house producer and articulate DJ Dave Miller, has risen above all expectation. From the young age of 10, Miller’s passion for beats began in the drum syndicate, fostered by a love of percussion and rhythm.Gaining notoriety among school peers soon earned him credible placings in several musical bands and his skills were later fostered under the guidance of numerous classical ensembles. After his talent was recognized by a music teacher, Miller took heed to some wise advice and began learning the guitar at the age of twelve. His love for melody construction and music creation drove him to construct an array of instrumental songs that crossed classical, contemporary and rock genres. But at the turn of his childhood, Miller stumbled upon dance music and it was his curiosity to experience crowd pleasure-seeking events that hooked him into the scene. His boisterous desires led him to sneak into a dance rave at the age of 13 and aside from getting chased off the premise, Miller had received the divine inception. He purchased his first Roland MC 303 Groovebox shortly after and began to construct beats influenced by sounds of the 90’s rave and early drum and bass.At 14, he scrounged enough pennies to purchase his first set of turntables and beganmixing at private parties and underage raves around Perth. His desire was met with professional knowledge as he eagerly and conscientiously studied audio engineering and musical production whilst collecting as much audio equipment as the bedroom could contain. But as the 1990’s progressed and diversified, thus did the skills of Miller, as his musical scope broaden to incorporate breaks and 2 step/garage, house and trance. At the tender age of 19, after all genres had been experienced, Miller met and fell in love with US house music. His passion for the stream allowed him to develop his solo projects drawing on influences from funk, jazz, hip hop, disco and soul. His transpired love for house has enabled a one-time bedroom kit to blossom into a multi-room studio complete with vision and musical creation.Miller’s recent signings to Dustpan recordings and Stencil Recordings, the lovechild of Ricardo Rae and Ion, have earned him good standing among house heavyweights and with strong endorsement from Jackin’ and Fetish Recordings frontman Joey Youngman, Miller’s voyage of house dissemination has only just begun
