Bos (AKA Tim O’Brien) was destined to be a musician since he had his first piano and music theory lessons at the age of 6. Even at this early age he had a desire to play the saxophone and when 10 years old he finally got his chance and hasn’t looked back since. Throughout high school Bos studied and was exposed to many styles of music including jazz, rock, classical, blues and electronica and his thirst for musical knowledge culminated in him attending the Elder Conservatorium of Music (Adelaide University) where he completed a degree is Jazz Performance.
It was while at University that Bos began to record both his own and other bands and ensembles and this sparked his passion for music production. With a number of successful independent releases under his belt Bos’ search for new and exciting music led him to begin playing with house music DJ’s. Immediately it was apparent that Bos had found his musical destiny. The extensive experience Bos had from playing in so many different groups and so many different styles came to the fore, seamlessly blending into the tracks and creating live remixes - most notably with his long time DJ friend Ben James. Of course it wasn’t long before Bos was producing his own style of funk and jazz infused jackin house music that had instant response on the dance floors of his home town, Adelaide.
It wasn’t until 2007 that Bos’ music was revealed to the rest of the dance music community with the first step being his winning of the "People’s Choice Award" at the inaugural "Fresh Fringe Spin" DJ competition. Those in attendance on the night of the final were quite simply blown away by this DJ who not only played saxophone, flute and did vocals throughout his set but also produced most of the tracks himself. Soon after this success Bos signed a number of tracks to Italian house music label Music Plan Records and the response was immediate. His debut EP "Turn Of Phase" was released in December 2007 and by January 2008 none other that the Godfather of House Marshall Jefferson listed "Move Your Feet" - the first track on the EP - in his Top 10 list on house music download site TraxSource.com. Since then Bos has released his second solo EP "The Music", collaborated with other producers and DJ’s and had his work released on other top labels including "Look At You" and "Gotta Keep Faith".
Having supported and played alongside many of house music’s top names (Stacy Kidd, Chuck Love, Bryan Jones, John Larner, Richard Earnshaw, Ricardo Rae, Jack McCord, Liam Sampras, Graham Cordery and more) and with a number exciting projects in the pipeline you can expect big things from this talented musician, producer and DJ.
