About Me

I am a bookstore, but not just any bookstore. I am TASCHEN's New York City flagship store, located in the heart of SoHo on Greene Street. Like the Beverly Hills TASCHEN Store, I was designed by Philippe Starck, but I don't take myself nearly so seriously.
My walls are covered in murals by Beatriz Milhazes that were commissioned especially for this space. I have one of a kind bookshelves that float on sprouting concrete stalks above the polished floors. I have a quiet gallery space with furniture by Tenriero, some sleek Eames chairs, and a buttery leather Arne Jacobson Egg chair. I have a sick sound system that plays everything from Edith Piaf to the Ramones, 24 hi-def TV screens that screen classic films and behind the scenes footage from some of our favorite artists’ studios, and a massive skylight over the mezzanine.
Did I mention my book collection? It's out of hand. TASCHEN publishes the most interesting and unique books in the world, and I'm lucky enough to have copies of all of them for you to take a look at. I have copies of Helmet Newton’s SUMO which is the largest book published in the 20th Century. It's so big in fact, that it comes with a special table designed by Philippe Starck. What's that? You live in New York and your apartment is tiny? Yes, I understand. That's OK. I also have the best collection of art books for $10 dollars. They're even small enough for the studio you share with 3 other friends.
Architecture, painting, cinema, design, photography, music, sex— we’ve got most of the good stuff covered. Come over, have some coffee (I have a pinafarina designed espresso machine), talk about books. I tend to be a little shy in person, but I have some nice friends who work here, they're over caffeinated and love to chat about pretty much everything. Jeremiah wears his Burberry bowtie everyday and would love to show it to you. He’s a photographer, but there’s a writer, a painter, a designer, an architect, and a heavy drinker.
I'm easy to find, I'm right in middle of SoHo at 107 Greene Street, between Prince and Spring. If you don't feel like walking or riding your bike, I'm a very short walk from the N/R train at Prince Street, and also pretty close to the 5/6 at Broadway Lafayette. The West 4th Street stop on the F/V and A/C/E is only 6 short blocks away as well. So stop by and say 'Hello', I'm new to the neighborhood and I'm looking to make some friends in New York.

Book Description The Post-Pop superstar: An in-depth study of Koons's entire oeuvre to date.
Limited to 1,500 numbered copies, each signed by Jeff Koons
From kinky to kitsch to conceptual, Jeff Koons's art is anything but conformist. Since he stirred up the art world establishment in the 1980s with his unapologetic basketball sculptures and stainless steel toy blow-ups, Koons has been known as somewhat of a bad boy--a reputation he confirmed in the early 90s via works depicting him having sex with then-wife Cicciolina, the Italian porn star-cum-politician. Following this torrid phase, he changed gears to produce the gargantuan Puppy, the 43-foot tall floral terrier that now resides at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain. Koons's exploitation of the banal, in the aggrandizement and/or embodiment of kitsch and pop imagery, has become his trademark; detractors may delight in their naysaying, but Koons's work commands millions at auction and his position at the forefront of contemporary art is indisputable.
This exhaustive monograph begins with a biographical essay by Interview magazine editor-in-chief Ingrid Sischy that puts his work into context and tells his personal story, as well as a text by Eckhard Schneider's analyzing Koons from a European perspective. Arranged in chronological chapters by work groups, the main body of the book features art historian and critic Katy Siegel's detailed analyses alongside hundreds of large-format images tracing Koons's career from 1979 to today. Rounding off the book are an extended bibliography and a lavishly illustrated biography. Fans of Jeff Koons's work will find in this publication not only a sumptuous book-object, but also the most comprehensive study of the artist's work ever published.
