Echo Park Lake is a rest and refueling stop for cormorants, ring-necked ducks, ruddy ducks, American wigeons, blue herons, great egrets, Canada geese, and several kinds of gulls and other migratory birds. Resident birds include Mallard ducks, several types of doves, hummingbirds, blackbirds, and many others.
