Two Lies & a Switchblade

Toronto/Vancouver Co-Production, Diesel Playhouse and The Beaumont Playhouse Present....

About Me

A seemingly-simple couple courts disaster; a chance meeting bristles with violence and absurdity; a drug-fuelled evening leads three people towards sex and deception...
Opening March 20th at the Diesel Playhouse, Two Lies and a Switchblade unites three separate stories of deceit, desire, sex and selfishness that will resonate in the minds of the modern viewer.
A Toronto/Vancouver co-production--originally debuted at The Beamount Playhouse in Vancouver, and written by Vancouver-natives Ben Ayres, Scott Miller and Simon Ogden--Two Lies and a Switchblade is a triptych of tales of love, lies and loss, sewn together by a diverse cast of distinct and damaged characters. What the audience receives is a tightly knit patchwork of sexuality, treachery and comedy.
With Terrance Odette (director of the critically-acclaimed feature film Heater and—most recently—Sleeping Dogs) as well as Bernadette Jones (Co-Artistic Director of Theatreworks Productions and the recipient of several Dora Mavor Moore award nominations) co-directing and Bill Lawrence (“Scrubs”) as executive producer, this play presents its stories and themes with strength and precision.
Two Lies… approaches the audience through several talented young Canadian actors. To name a few: Lara Kelly (“The Dresden Files,Degrassi: TNG”, David Mamet’s “Sexual Perversity in Chicago”) Glen McDonald (“Sister Mary Explains it All” and the TV show “Missing”) and Jeff Pangman (most recently Jeff shot the BRAVOfact comedy short “The Yard Sale”).
Umbilically-linked through thematics of fear, confusion and betrayal, Two Lies and a Switchblade is positioned perfectly for the nocturnal twenty-to-forty urban crowd, as it—like they—is immersed in the close-confines of the city sphere.
In short, this play unfolds at that most modern and human of places where relationships, reason and reckoning meet.
