Bright lights, shiny things, home improvement, yoga, karate, traveling (without an itinerary), modern design, new wave hairdos, snuggling, making out, making drinks, light art, Adidas shell toes, making fun foods from soy products, surfing, robots, surfing robots, ceramics, metal sculpture, did I mention light art? hunting lost tiki bars, exploring abandoned buildings, turn-of-the-century Detroit, vespas, old cars, other things that go fast, unidentifiable large pieces of machinery, terraforming, Love Lines, cycling, Hello Kitty, blimps, airships, dirigibles, other lighter-than-air aircraft. And anything that has to do with Japan.
Lonely hearts. Star-crossed lovers. Bruised rollergirls. Particuluarly if they're missing one or both of their front teeth. People who bust their asses every day, but still take risks, who cherish goals that everyone else thinks are silly, who have brainstorms on napkins -- daily, who can talk about anything -- but don't, and anyone who will play Atari with me.
New Wave, Electro, Ska, stompy stuff you can bang your head to, the perkier goth stuff, goofy punk rock; Gogol Bordello, and anyone who is trying to save rock'n roll.
The Pirate Movie, Star Wars, Heathers, Fight Club, Lost Boys, movie adaptations of Phil K. Dick books, Rushmore, Spinal Tap, Dream a Little Dream, Some Kind of Wonderful, Bill 'n Teds, Chunking Express, Zato Ichi, True Romance, Akira, Mad Max and cartoons!
Not much for the TV. For a Regan-era obsessed cat like me though, VH1 classic is worse than crack rock.
I'm wrapped up in Joe Campbell's myth series right now, Speed Tribes, Fruits, anything Melvillian or about pirates, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, Bible for Dummies, LA noir, anything P.K Dick, D. Adams, Sedaris, Tibor Fischer, etc
Max Fischer and Max Headroom.
