The Exchange were formed in June 06' consisting of four young lads just up for a good laugh, and amusing there friends with a guitar or two... and of course plenty of drunken antics along the way. Matt and David started playing together as very young innocent teenagers, just jamming into the mornings of unemployment. Prior to that, Matt and Stuart (the drummer) had been in a band together before, so the groundings for a band was already there; they just needed a good kick up the jacksy! And a few more messy nights, with dreams of being on stage in front of thousands! Or hundreds…
It was then when young Ben (lead guitarist) arrived on the scene, and made The Exchange a four piece indie band, full of excitement and enthusiasm, and ready to hit the pubs and clubs with an army of friends. All of them tanked up, and raring to go! If you haven’t heard them, you’ve definitely seen them!
The Exchange’s first gig was in Customs in August 06’ very small, dingy place with a capacity of about 100 people. The boys assured everyone that there undies were changed at least twice before the gig, but failing that all family and friends were invited and t’was a night never to forget!
Following this, gigs came along rather quickly in places like The Bagot, The So Bar & Bonds Bar. All of which ran out of glasses at least once, and numerous friends being kicked out for telling the manager to fuck off, or trying to rob the condom machine from the toilet wall… the story continues with gigs at The Live Lounge and The Watersplash popping up left, right and center.
Have a listen to these four tracks from the first EP, simply titled ‘The Exchange.’ And keep your ears open for the second one its coming very shortly, and louder than ever.
The Exchange is in town, and the rates are fookin high!
